Daily Practice (8th of Dec)
Another day of drawing. I did some rotating objects from imagination. Well, rotating is from imagination, the objects were there in front of me, just at a wrong angle. I also did one copy and two of my own figures. I also doodled a guy from imagination during a work call.

Hi Chris! Thank you, I always appreciate the crit. I guess I'll try to always submit something, even if it's not a long form drawing.
How to self correct errors?
Hi everyone. As the title says, I am looking to improve my ability to correct my drawings. I can see the errors, but I end up making a mess on the page if I try to draw over my work. When sculpting or 3d modelling, I will just blast out shapes that need to be fixed, move proportions, etc. Whilst drawing, I don't have this skillset quite developed yet, as I am nowhere near experienced drawing as I am with those other mediums. At the moment, I am thinking of drawing larger and much lighter. So it gives me wiggle room to make adjustments without erasing. Also, I find I am drawing quite rigidly while trying to adhere to the steps in the lectures. Not very loose, as if I am trying to lay down the "perfect" mark the first time. I hope this makes sense and if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. Thanks!

I use ink, and I usually avoid underdrawings. The key is to draw light, draw several lines, ignore the ones that don't work, reinforce the ones that do. It's like natural selection in action. If you're using pencils, you can start with a light pencil (e.g. non-photo blue, or sepia for sepia+black combo), and then switch to a darker one once you figure things out. Rembert Montald, the guy who's class I'm currently following, puts it rather poetically: "I like drawing with ink because it's like a conversation. You can't take back what you said, even if it's wrong, but you have to live with it and find a way to move on". According to him, mistakes are not necessarily bad. Some mistakes can turn into discoveries, and even become a foundation of your personal style. In short, embrace your mistakes and move on.
Adding Emotion to a Plein-Air Landscape.
I started this painting with the intent to communicate the word/feeling of "victory", or 'triumph. I wanted to tell a story about nature overcoming the modern/harsh/city world. If you notice the design of the drawing, there are lots of "V"s in the shapes. There are even "V"s in the details which is all intentional. Actually the entire design is one giant "V". This is something Nathan Fowkes emphasized. This is how he gives his environments more impact and power and emotion, by creating a purposeful, unified design in all the elements. I've talked about this for years when it comes to figures and portraits. Now that I've spent time with Nathan, I'm going to practice this concept more and more, especially in compositions and pictures. Give it a try. Thank you @Natasza Zurek for guessing the message :)

I perceive a lot of energy in this painting, but I have hard time pinning its emotional charge.

@Natasza Zurek I like this interpretation. To me it looked like an explosion.

I always feel like I haven't done anything particularly interesting by the time the deadline approaches. 😅 I'll try to give more attention to longer projects.
