I know I've already said hello, but just popping back in again if that's ok? Music has always been a huge part of my life as a teacher.... taught v basic guitar to primary school pupils and some of them went on to do amazing things with guitar! (basic on my part I mean!), played various types of recorders, flute and violin. Since parenthood, not had the time I'd like to dedicate to practising any of these. Two things I'd love to pick up again are my tenor recorder as I love it's earthy tones and my guitar. Feeling inspired by Jon's thoughts around just picking up an instrument for a few minutes each day.... even whilst cooking / boiling the kettle and just feeling the achievement of those five minutes - a real teaching point for three of my children who play instruments too :)

@Jon Hart Definitely going to think about a space I can put an instrument in the kitch (as that's where I spend alot of time), so I can just pick it up for a few minutes. Good advice! :)

🔥 This is about confidence, not control. - Belonging, not pressure. - Presence, not perfection 🧡 AGC exists because I believe in being an acoustic guitarist, not just doing guitar. - I’m neurodivergent with AuDHD & Dyslexia. - I’ve been through divorce, health crashes, business crashes and identity loss. - I know what it feels like to be constantly torn with external priorities left, right and centre. 💪🏻 But I still show up every day with my guitar - Not because I “have to”. - Because “I get to”. 🎸 My guitar isn’t a task. - It isn’t practice or something I have to do - It isn’t something I squeeze in when life allows. 😌 It’s co-regulation: - Expression. - Connection. - Therapy. - Being. ⭐ It’s been with me since I was 8. - No conditions. - No judgement. - No expectations. ✨ That’s the energy AGC is built on. So here’s what we agree to, together: 🎸 You are a guitarist 🎸 You are actively playing 🎸 You’re willing to post progress & questions 🎸 You’re open to encouragement and feedback 🎸 You’re here to participate, not observe ❌ There are no sideliners here. - No lurkers or “I’m too busy” excuses. - No “I’ll get to it someday”. 🤘🏻 If you’re not actively playing or engaging… - This group isn’t for you 👊🏻 A gentle but important note: “I can’t because I’m ND” “I have no time” 😬 These often come from fear, not truth. - We all battle with MET: Money. Energy. Time. - This space is about prioritising, not blaming the world outside us. 🔦 AGC is about shining a light inward - On our playing. - Our presence. - Our responsibility. - I’ll meet you 50% if you meet me 50%. - This isn’t my community. - It’s yours and ours 🤲🏻 In your corner always 🧡🎸

@David Smieszek ah sorry to hear you've had the flu. It's been a rubbish year for it! Same here and we're all on a go slow..... I think Jon's Chorus Arranging Challenge is something I will look at as I need something very small and and achievable to get me going!

✨ New Year ✨ New Energy ✨ New Purpose ✨ New Acoustic Guitar Circle As we start the new year, Acoustic Guitar Circle is shifting gears. Not because anything was broken. But because I want this to actually work for you. AGC is no longer about watching, saving, or waiting until you feel ready. It’s about playing, showing up, and building momentum. 👇🏻 WHAT’S CHANGING: ✅ Less learning ✅ More playing guitar ✅ Less passive learning ✅ More tangible progress ✅ Less pressure & frustration ✅ More connection and purpose : ✊🏻 INTRODUCING TWO NEW CORE PILLARS 🎥 Friday Feedback 🎸 Guitar Arranging Bootcamp This is about small, focused actions that compound. ❌ No overwhelm. ❌ No grinding. ❌ No hiding. If you’re here to play, create, regulate, and reconnect with your guitar, you’re in the right place. Please read the next posts carefully. They explain how AGC works from here. 2026 is about presence over perfection.

I love your thoughts, Jon about just picking up the guitar / ukulele while boiling the kettle etc. I think we can put too much pressure on ourselves to spend an hour or so practising... I say the same to my daughters with their flute practice. I'd rather five mins a day which they enjoy and feel they've got something comfortable .... than an hour or guilty catch up a week if that makes sense?
🎄Anyone working on a Christmas arrangement?
This month I was playing around with some Christmas songs (traditional and modern). I love to take fast paced tracks and then slow them down. Not just the chords or the melody. But all the layers. Silent Night and Rocking around the Christmas Tree have become my go tos on guitar and ukulele. Defo worth having a look into if you haven’t already. Chords are mainly G, C, D and Em now and again. And you should find most of the melodies, harmonies and rhythm section embedded into the chords. Always remember to use the open strings as anchor notes for figuring out your melodies. And more importantly if the frustration pops up it means your in an energy of forcing it. Regulate your nervous system and then approach it again in a flow state. Have fun 🤘🏻🎸

We have a few Ukuleles in the house.... wonder if I should pick one of them up first and get a bit more confident before picking up my guitar again after what has been a very long time ;)
🎸What are you working on this December?
What are you working on in your guitar journey? - Technique? - Theory? - Song arrangement - Composition? - Recording? - Performing?

@Jon Hart my absolute dream would be to be able to play Joni Mitchell's 'River' for Frankie to sing to as it makes me cry when she sings it..... maybe by Christmas 2026 if I take it small sections at a time?
