Started arranging this for my daughter on Christmas Day and a new magic memory materialised where she started singing, dancing, bopping her head, smiling and laughing along with it. Anyone guess what it is? The artist is not someone I listen to. But daaaaamn it’s a modern ear worm. Just proves we might not like to listen to something. But playing it might create a different reaction. Also, the awesomeness of arranging other people’s favourite songs for them on solo guitar without them ever asking for it. AND the power of serving authentically without any attachment, transactional or expectation needed. A powerful combo we could all be trying 🧡🎸

@David Smieszek great work on the fingerpicking and passing notes. Will work great when you’re weaving in the filling. Was the melody in there as I couldn’t hear it. You got a vid with the melody and root notes? Yeah man, not you got the right hand fingerpicking on autopilot and you’re starting to look away from guitar. It’s only a matter time now you’ll level will upgrade naturally. As long as you’re loving the song (the why, which helps you through those slow, hard, concrete days), the how (technique etc) will take care of itself. Only thing I’d say with any mistakes or blips. Just zoom in them curiously and become aware of your hands. Start to see if there’s something tripping you up everytime you play it. I go through this in the Enhancing Circle where you slow everything down, iron out the crease (smooth) and then bring back up to full speed gradually. It’s like rewatching your videos (without your guitar) and jotting down time markers where you think your weaknesses are (not to judge or criticise). But to just be aware that whenever the pressure ramps up (popping the phone, layering up or performing infront of someone) those mini weaknesses will expand. So zooming in a repeating those small blips over and over for a few mins should help a lot. Not right away but you should hopefully see some relief with the mindset as it can become psychological after a while. It’s why ruts and long spells of not playing happen. The love and passion have gone, which breeds discipline, accountability etc. You’ve got this though man. Now we’re both back in the saddle we’re not getting off now 👊🏻😉🎸

🎸 GUITAR ARRANGING BOOTCAMP - NOW LIVE! Hey all. I’ve just opened up the Guitar Arranging Bootcamp in the classroom, and this course sits at the heart of what Acoustic Guitar Circle is really about. This isn’t a new set of techniques to memorise or a checklist to complete. It’s an invitation to move beyond playing chords and riffs and start arranging complete songs on one acoustic guitar by tracing and weaving together every layer you hear in the music you love. The process is intentionally calm and spacious. There are no deadlines, no pressure to perform, and no expectation to rush. You’re encouraged to work with songs that matter to you and let the arranging itself quietly upgrade your skills, awareness, and confidence along the way. If you’ve ever felt like your playing was close but not quite whole, this is the missing context. Take your time with it. Watch the intro. Sit with the ideas. Let it meet you where you are. If questions come up, or you want to share what you’re working on, post in the community — that’s what this space is here for. 🧡🎸
