Scarlet Robins
I was photographing Scarlets last month in Mallacoota and I spotted one with a white eye ring, which I've never seen before ... perhaps a juvenile? Second pic for comparison, what a sweet little bird they are, probably on their way to the high country for summer about now

Ummm, it almost looks like it’s infected by something, but maybe I’m making out more of it than it is.

@Sonia Rampling I have investigated online and it has been suggested that it might be caused by moulting feathers not being replaced. Whether that is true or not who knows.
Birds on a stick?
Static bird images leave me cold. Birds are alive and lively and I want to try and capture that. But sometimes they're static and I still want a record in which case I wait and try at least for eye contact or I try to get down to their level for the intimacy that that can bring. Kneeling or lying down is the single best and cheapest thing I know of to improve my shots. Here's two of the most handsome birds I've seen: static, more or less, but with with eye contact in one case and shared space in the other. The first is an immature Antarctic Tern (Snares Is. New Zealand) and the second is a male Upland Goose (Patagonia).

Well I’m loving them, I don’t mind if they are static. The goose photograph is absolutely amazing, I can just imagine being there watching it feeding. The Tern image again is lovely and I’m a sucker for a splash of yellow/green lichen to lift/add interest.
Eastern Cattle Egret
Long weekend in Perth saw us at the Wetland exhibit at Perth Zoo. Drizzle and fading light in the late afternoon wasn't ideal but managed a few keepers. Canon RF 200-800 isn't fantastic in those conditions, but ultimately salvaged with a bit of post production in both LRC and PS

Lovely photos Dan, I think you have done a grand job, I agree with @Ern Reeders, the light works really well with the plumage.
Mallacoota
This little scarlet honey eater is a new bird for me. Love finding new birds that I haven't photographed before.

Hey lovely for me to see photos of new bird species to me too, thanks for sharing them here. The colouration is beautiful and the pop of colour from the bottlebrush(?) goes well too. Just looked up the female, definitely not showy in anyway.

Beautiful photo Wayne, obviously the bird is the star but the background is amazing too.

Natural History lover and enjoy coupling that with learning the art of photography. Loads to learn, patience being one of them.
