Work update: Pumping at work is going great, but! Pumping at home in preparation for work has been a struggle 😩 any tips on how you have been able to make work for you?
Welcome to BDM!
You’re here because you’re built different and I can’t wait to learn why! I’m Ryan—Olympian, firefighter/paramedic, and mom. I created this space for women who refuse to lose their strength, identity, or standards in motherhood. Whether you’re pregnant, trying to get pregnant, postpartum, years into mom life, or just curious—you belong here. This community is about training with purpose, supporting each other, and navigating real life together—sleep deprivation, feeding schedules, long shifts, and all. Inside the BDM Skool, you’ll find: • Four Strength and Conditioning Programs available: – 30-Week Strength Through Pregnancy – 6-Week Early Postpartum Core Restore – 10-Week Return to Duty (Tactical Mom S&C) – 10-Week Postpartum S&C • Weekly check-ins for accountability + support • Optional 1:1 coaching with me • A community of Women & Mamas from all stages of motherhood here to support you, bond with you, laugh with you, cry with you, listen to you, and meet you where you’re at—braless with a cold cup of coffee in hand! • A space to share policies, SOPs, what works, what doesn’t—a place to empower each other to be the change our departments and agencies need for women and mothers. This is a space to connect. Ask questions about motherhood, breastfeeding, pumping, training, work, or just life. Share wins, struggles, workouts, or meet up with local mamas for coffee, workouts, or playdates. You’re not stepping away from who you were—you’re building forward. Drop an intro below 👇 Who you are, where you’re from, and what season of motherhood you’re in.

My name is Sarah, I am a Firefighter EMT in the state of Washington and I have a 5 month old son. I also work a 48/96 and have my first shift back tomorrow 😬 I am nervous about how pumping is going to work but optimistic to see how you have been able to make it work!
My firehouse pumping set up 🍼 👩‍🚒
This is where I pump, how I store my milk, and how I travel with my milk between stations or between home and work! I live an hour away from my home station and can travel up to 2 hours between stations! I worked with my HR & Risk Management department to receive these “reasonable accommodations” at work. As a firefighter, I don’t get breaks or rest periods. I find time for pumping and hope for the best. I have been very diligent about setting a timer and finding time to get at least partial pump sessions in between calls. I am legally allowed to take the fire engine out of service to complete a pump if needed, but I have not had to do that (I don’t really want to). My current assigned station has an open dorm room and a shared bathroom (other stations have private rooms/bathrooms). I am able to comfortably find privacy in my dorm room to pump. Some of the items I requested as part of my “reasonable accommodation” include: ✅Mini fridge ❌Cooler ❌Reusable ice blocks ❌Portable power bank with 110 outlet ❌Insulated thermos ✅Pump sanitizing wipes ❌Silicone Storage bags I received the items marked with the check. I purchased the other items myself. Be your own advocate! Know your rights! Know the law! What did I miss?? What does your pumping set up at work look like??
