Whats your Tech Stack?
Curious what everyone’s running. Here’s mine: • JobTread — PM, estimating, budgets, and the file system: plans, drawings, receipts, job docs all live here • QuickBooks — accounting • Notion — business brain / SOPs + cost history • Airtable — Contractor OS data layer • Claude / ChatGPT — the glue. Skills + MCP connectors so I’m not re-entering the same data three times Google Drive is still in there, but honestly it’s redundant — it only exists as a staging spot until I get receipt capture running properly through the agents. Once that’s clean it comes out. What are you running — and what’s sitting in your stack that you know you don’t actually need?

Not very efficient from my point of view, but the company I work for currently uses: Egnyte – Central document management for day-to-day project information. HCSS HeavyJob – Field timekeeping and daily reporting platform. Crew foremen record daily labor hours by employee and cost code, along with field notes and photos.g. Viewpoint by Trimble – Company ERP system used for project financials, accounting, payroll, job costing, and other business operations. Field timecard data from HCSS feeds into Viewpoint for payroll and cost tracking. Chatgpt- I use this in my day to day work activities to speed repetitive tasks and reports
Lookahead schedule software
Hey everyone! On all the projects I’ve worked on, we maintain a baseline/master schedule, but every week we also create a weekly work plan and a 3-week lookahead schedule. This approach has worked well for lean planning, keeping subcontractors informed, and identifying constraints ahead of time. However, I feel like we’re still doing the lookaheads in a very old-school way. Our master schedule is maintained in P6, but our lookahead schedules are created in Excel, which can be a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of any inexpensive or free software that could help streamline this process? I'm mainly looking for something that makes it easier to update and rearrange lookahead activities

@Tim Fairley Thanks for sharing! I will take a look as well.

@Masood QuraishiThe P6 schedule is our contractual baseline schedule, so it includes high-level activities. The lookahead schedule provides the detailed field activities and sequencing needed to accomplish each of those baseline activities

Hi everyone! My name is Sara and I have been a project engineer for about 1.5 years now in an infrastructure GC. I like being on the field but planning to move towards construction consulting, estimating or project control at some point. I have a MS from Berkeley in Construction systems/Project Management but since I work for a very small contractor, I haven't been able to figure out a way to implement a lot of things I would like and also, I am still growing as a professional and still have a lot of field knowledge to gain. Looking forward to learn more how to implement innovative solutions to my day to day work life and learn the path to jump out of the field hah
