Find Your Core Values
How many of us have taken the time to understand, let alone, define our core values? Not the ones we were taught at home, learned in school or adopted as part of our religion but the ones we truly believe deep down inside. Our values are integral to our identity however having ADHD means we often create a false sense of identity based on our failures. So we take on an identity of someone who "never remembers" or "always fails to follow through" yet which detracts from any inherent sense of being someone who values self-development or being challenged. But what if your value of self-development is what pushed you to get diagnosed, then go on meds, work with a therapist, coach or just join a community like ours. What if you valued being challenged and looked for ways to enhance your focus? What if you decided to challenge yourself to stop drinking so you could create mental clarity and level up? Our values matter more than we believe which is why I've just put together this Values training per The Performance OS which I'm actively building out. I'd suggest opening the PDF and working through the slides and then working on the Values exercise. I've done this myself and my top 5 values are: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 & 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 The exercise provides over 58 values to choose from or you can add your own. If you've ever defined your values please do share them here. 👇

@Joe Keohan Defining these values has helped me be more intentional with my decisions. I’m learning to pause and ask myself if a choice really reflects who I want to be. I’m also realizing that being compassionate and kind includes being kind to myself and setting boundaries when I need to.

Welcoming our newest members to The ADHD Performance Lab!
Please help me welcome 👋 our newest members this week to the community! The community is small and growing so every member contributes its success. So please help me give a warm welcome to them all: @Rafael Purificacion @Shayna Harrison @Leslie Young @Gold Golden @Simon Nygren @Javier Torres @Patrick Trachsler @Fay D @Sara Fredrick @Amy Walker @Gitte Lundbergh @Henry Brinker @Patti Sheaz @Ebone Holmes @Cecelia McCullough @Dylan Greene @Pete Jones @Raenita Ivill @Darryl Brown Brown @Darren Byrd This community is all about helping others learn to manage their ADHD and that it becomes second nature. If you can optimize the mind and body and leverage the systems that work for you than focus shows up when you need it, follow-through becomes a thing you just do, memory improves ever so slightly and emotions are stay grounded. There is no magic pill and you have to put in the work, but if you do I can guarantee that every ADHD struggle you've ever had will improve, to some degree, over time. Welcome everyone 🙏 Joe
