Week 4
Welcome to week 4! We're continuing to build our strength & skills with moves that challenge our range-of-motion, add volume to our pressing and squatting muscle groups, and incorporate visualization techniques. Our call this week will be on Thursday at 3pm CST. As always, holler with any questions and keep up the good work as we head into the homestretch!

Question that perhaps others are running into as well. What are the common issues or limitations when your floating leg quad cramps at the bottom of the pistol?

Awesome! Thank you so much for the explanation as well as the moves that will continue to help!
Call #2: Pistol & Push-Up Pointers
- Don't let mobility get in the way of serious strength training - Use more hollow & hinge positioning in the Pistol set-up - Always strive for a "mid-foot" balance - Keep the hand close and the legs out for 1-arm push-up - Walk the tip-toes forwards to create a "heels back" leg position - Engage the lats! - Dedicated pec, delt, and tricep work goes a long way

Ok I completely underestimated the "walk the toes in" for a heels back leg position cue. That made way more difference than I expected.
Week 2, Day 1 💪
Happy Week 2! This was box pistols set 2 of 3. I tried to control the descent more on set 3 so it was more controlled and less just sitting to the bench. Making progress. Have a great week!

Thank you! I will certainly think about that! You're right, I probably won't be able to be as far forward but my belly isn't too big yet so I will work with what I have for now. IT SURE IS! I lived in Portland for about 5 years (2013-2018) and essentially lived at Industrial Strength. I loved that place so much. That is actually where I first learned about kettlebells and I have been addicted ever since. Tony and Mira are awesome.
Call #1: Welcome & Core Concepts
In this call, I detail how center-of-mass impacts our training, the importance of the "Low Ab Breath" drill, and why 60% beats 100% effort (most of the time).

This was awesome! The L.A.B. has been a good "teacher" this week. I really liked your explanation on the different gears and how that fits into bodyweight training. I think I used to go into many of the movements thinking I *needed* to be at 90-100% where you highlight why that really isn't going to be the best bet. I definitely remember the feeling of having way too much tension to be able to move fluidly at all. I have heard the 'breathing behind the shield' cue many times before so that also helped me clue in to how to fit all of this is with my current skill set or mental framework. THANK YOU and I will try to make sure I am on the call next week!

@Zachary Henderson I somehow automatically heard some sort of movie reference with the mere mention of Brett Jones. 😆 Yeah 'turning down the volume' was an absolute game changer for me for my KB cleans!

Hello! My name is Sammantha and I am here from rural Comstock, Minnesota. I am the mom to a wild toddler, 3 large dogs, and am about 14 weeks pregnant with baby #2. I work as an Infectious Disease specialist by day and love working on my kettlebell skills and bodyweight strength by night (and during lunch breaks). My biggest goal for the next several weeks is to overall be less intimidated by the OAPU and pistol squat and learn to tools to harness full body tension to put towards those two movements. My toddler dictates a lot of my reading and right now (The Gruffalo is on heavy rotation), BUT non-children book reading lately includes 'The Calamity Club' by Kathryn Stockett, which I just started Friday.
