I'm so excited for this week's focus, we're gonna start some sourdough starters. Watch the video and it will get you started. Question have any of you made your own starter before? Do you currently make sourdough bread? Also for anyone asking @Sam Chaney is our community member who has requested this also if anyone else wants to see something specific please let me know. It can be something you want to grow but aren't sure how something you want to make this community is here for you so just ask and we'll do it

Hello everyone, so on Monday I made a lovely post for this weeks focus and lost if before I could post it. It's been a busy week for me because we did our first market of the year, and I haven't had any time to rewrite it till now. Last week we talked about planning something realistic that you can accomplish on your homestead, or just in your home or garden, this year. Now we're going even smaller and simpler. This week I want everyone to write a list of all the things they need to accomplish by the end of the month to achieve their goals. These aren't large projects, unless your currently working on one that will be finished by the end of the month, these are thing you need to do to stay on track. I'll give you a list of mine so you can see what I mean. Here is my list: 1. Cleaning out my greenhouse attached to my house, so I can get some starter plants out there. 2. Pot up my lettuce and plant arugula and radish. 3. Clean and organize my pantry and large freezer. I like to take stock so I know where we are with pantry food and we have 2 goats that need to go in the freezer so I need to make room. 4. Clean out my market area garden where I will grow potatoes and peas. These are the first things I plant in the garden and I need the area ready by the 1st of March. If I can get these 4 things done by the end of the month I'll be very happy with myself. What does your list look like?

1. I have to start planning which seeds are going into the ground and which I’m going to put in containers. 2. I have to make sure my soil and ground are all tilled and ready for planting. 3. I also have to do my spring cleaning in my chicken coop. 4. Going to run to tractor supply to look at the baby fowl to scratch my itch of getting more 😆

@Megan Noel I had ordered some in October and they will be about 4 months, so I’m waiting for them to start laying lol and I may go and get more after that. If I’m allowed 😬
What's your favorite season?
I absolutely love fall, everything quiets down and I love the colors. The recipe I make at this time of year are my favorite. What's your favorite season and why?

Fall is the best!! The bugs aren’t out as much. And I can enjoy the outside without the fear of getting bit!

@Megan Noel oh yes! Haha I’m not a fan of bugs.
New adventures
So I had started my sourdough journey a couple of days ago. The first couple days went well. I did have some spoiled milk/baby spit up smell to it and researched that I just had to adjust the feedings and allow the good bacteria to take over the bad. I forgot to feed it for like 3 days so it all went bad. But please send me your tips and tricks on what you do for sourdough starters! I am ready to start again!

Hello! I’m Sam. I moved a little everywhere. I grew up in Vegas, moved to South Dakota, then to California and am now in Texas. I started my growing adventure in SD, where I had a raised garden bed and pots growing herbs, cucumbers, corn, potatoes, and peppers. In California, my potatoes and corn continues to be successful. Now in Texas, I’m hoping to succeed in berries. I’ll get vines, but they don’t flower or fruit and I get sort of defeated.

@Megan Noel I want to do some strawberries again. Maybe incorporate some blueberries or raspberries. My nieces love them all!
