The Way of A CPA
I have two loves in my life as of now: Rock N Roll & Accounting. In Grade 11, I discovered the balance sheet, income statement, statement of equity, and statement of cash flows. I pursued this passion, which has led me to earn a university degree and to become a CPA. The Chartered Professional Accountant. When I finish my CPA education and practical experience requirements, I will have extensive knowledge and experience in six technical fields: 1. Financial Reporting 2. Managerial Accounting 3. Taxation 4. Finance 5. Strategy & Governance 6. Audit & Assurance I will also have extensive knowledge and experience in seven enabling fields 1. Professional & Ethical Behaviour 2. Problem Solving & Decision Making 3. Written & Oral Communication 4. Self Management 5. Teamwork & Leadership 6. Digital Acumen and Technology I love my numbers, and I love my notes. A Reintroduction of Sorts
May I now please introduce myself? My name is Schmidty. I started drumming when I was eight years old, when my father needed a drummer for his garage band. I took a few lessons at this place, but it was not until I connected with this mobile drummer that I really learned the groove. I learned how to count, hit and fill it. The 1234, quarter, eight and sixteenth note. The single, double and paradiddle. The foundation of a rocking blues song. When I was 14, I was learning the bass, and it was bassy, get it? The first tune for me was Money by Pink Floyd. Other simple tunes, such as The Joker, Can't Ya See, and Sweet Home Alabama nearly followed. Another hit tune I learned and grooved to was Play That Funky Music White Boy. At 17, halfway through Grade 12, I finally picked up the guitar and started exploring it, wondering about it. Initially, it looked exciting and maybe addictive with the frets, wood and other aspects, but I did not know the pull it would bring when I started playing it. For the last nine years, I have played almost every day, working on it, practicing it, becoming better and advancing myself. From fretting technique to picking technique to song structuring technique, I do everything. This summer, the summer of 2026, I will be releasing my first official album, known as Something About Sailor, produced by the lovely dude who founded this community.
Founding phase check-in 👋
Hello, founding members! This group is intentionally small right now. I’m using this early phase to shape what actually makes this useful before opening it wider. No pressure to be active — even reading along is totally fine. If you do feel like answering, I’d love to know just one thing: What’s one live sound or audio thing you still feel unsure about — even a little? Could be technical, workflow, or “I kind of get it but not really.” Appreciate you being here early 🙏

I know how to play the instruments, but when it comes to a digital audio workstation, I need practice. Big time practice. I want to be competent in everything related to music so I can understand what it takes to make a good song and produce it wisely.
An Introduction
Hi Jon and Company, What a cool interface here for Sound Guy 101. I have known Jon for quite some time now, and each time I am in the studio with him, I am amazed by his craft, intelligence, skill, and technique in working with sound. He is a beautiful soul who respects everyone. I am a multi-instrumentalist and a music and financial accountant. I practice the drums, bass, keys and electric guitar. I have loved rock 'n' roll for as long as I can remember, and the ability to play it is one of life's greatest gifts. Some of my original records you will see in the upcoming years include: 1. Something About Sailor 2. The Pirate of Pirates 3. A New Kind of Man

I am the Rock N Roll Accountant. As a practicing musician and accountant, I value the connections between the two professions.
