What are you doing right now? Are you surviving?
I want to know how you're actually doing. Not the fake LinkedIn version. The real version. Are you still sending applications and getting ghosted? Are you starting to build something on your own? Are you juggling gig work while figuring out your next move? Are you hanging on by a thread? I'll go first: I'm building 7 income streams. Making about $1,650/month. Some months I can't pay all my bills. I'm still applying to jobs while building my own thing. I took three mental health days last week because the voices in my head got too loud and I couldn't function. I'm surviving. Barely. But I'm still here. Now you: What are you doing right now? What's working? What's not? Are you finding jobs? Building businesses? Still searching? Are you okay? This community is almost almost 700 strong. We're all in different places. Some of us are winning. Some of us are drowning. But we're all here. Together. So tell me: what's your status right now? Let's check in with each other.

I am looking to join the second cohort and am looking forward to it. I am surviving but am behind on bills. Meanwhile, I am still volunteering. I am still applying to job posts, temp agencies, working on setting an Etsy Shop and developing an HR Consultancy. Before I apply to a job, I look up the employer and check reviews. Then I go to ChatGPT to have my resume framed to match the job posting and draw up a cover letter. I do edits before I upload. ChatGPT can also give you potential interview questions and provide a mock interview. For the Etsy shop, I used ChatGPT to design the items I want to sell, product descriptions and keywords. Regarding the HR Consultancy, I used ChatGPT and Claude to develop my website, LinkedIn profile, business plan, SOPs, etc. I used loveable.dev to create two worksheets that I can use to do employee file audits. I will create a couple more automations before I start outreach. Sporadic income: I saw a post about the reflex.careers app. It is gig work. It is best if you live in an area relatively close to retail stores. They are more active during holiday seasons. Most of the assignments I did were setting up a store, inventory, cashiering, etc. The last one I did this month was for the Zwilling company (housewares). They rented a space in a mall for a warehouse sale. They do this in different parts of the country. About ten days were available to work for that temporary assignment. My first assignment last Summer was for a Karl Lagerfeld Boutique in Carlsbad. Workers can get a small "employee" discount on the day they work, but the items are so expensive that I don't bother. If you work early in the week, you get paid the next day via direct deposit. What I like about reflex is that it is not like a temp job where you are obligated for a long period of time and you do not have to accept/qualify for every assignment posted. You get paid by direct deposit. Communication is via cell phone. There are some rules that bug me, but these are the times we live in. If you have any questions, just ask.

Sorry that I could not make it in time. I am still having a time changing my background image. Seems that you had a nice turnout. 😊 Miss you all!
What would you do if you didn't have to work for money?
Over in The Great Pivot, we are designing our perfect Tuesday. But all I want to know, what if you didn't have to work, would would you do? I would still help people, because it gives me purpose. If people weren't stressing about jobs anymore, I would find something else to help with. What about you?

I am unemployed and am spending my time learning how to prompt with ChatGPT, Claude and MidJourney with classes. This month I plan to open an Etsy shop with AI- generated images on postcards designed to promote a conference I will volunteer at in November in my hometown. I also plan to finally finish a children's book with AI- generated images, to sell on KDP. I volunteer in a ministry weekly, which keeps me going strong as well.
MEDIUM Paywall-ing
@Jason Weiland Hey everyone - Quick question: If you are on MEDIUM, do you paywall your stories?

Hi @Jason Weiland, I would like to see a course on how to monetize writings on Medium. I'd love to learn how to determine which topics would yield interest as well. Most of my writing and editing has been for work over the years, HR manuals, reports of supervisory activity, applications for professional certification, responses to RFPs, etc. - all before the age of AI. I need to pivot in my post layoff journey.
