@Caleb Wilson I'd love that! Also CCLI is the organization that handles North American Licensing for Christian Music. Can't remember exactly what CCLI is short for though at the moment... it's 06:06hrs here so still crazy early.

@Nathaniel Gill thank you so much for this. That's actually part of my problem... recordings... All i have access to is the "studio" versions which all have way more complex basslines than what we generally use at worship. It's been a bear for me to try and slim down the bassline knowing full well I am leaving stuff out. Maybe it's my ADD/ADHD but my brain keeps trying to fill in the missing parts and I have to work extra hard mentally to remember to stick to the roots so I don't "overpower" the rest of the worship team. If that makes any sense...
Outside of playing bass, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m curious, what do you enjoy doing outside of music? It’s easy to get so caught up in music and forget that we are all real people here. Let me know, what are you into outside of music?

@Fitz Jones I can see how one could take it as such; however, The Bible advocates for functioning in society through diligent work, respectful submission to authority, loving service to others, and maintaining personal integrity. It emphasizes earning one’s own living to be self-reliant, contributing to the common good, and living quietly while promoting peace within the community. I see being prepared for the worst as falling under portions of all these .
Upgrading simple bass lines
This lesson was inspired by @Roy Houston who mentioned about memorising more complex lines and getting away from just root notes. I guess this is part one of the answer to that question to cover any holes in bass line creation and give you some simple structures to add some flavour to simple songs pt2 will deal with more ideas and strategy for song learning and memorisation. What are your approaches to this?

love the running with the kick idea. It really does add a different flavor to things. I do have to ask though, when going with the kick, should one be on the kick? or just before or after? I had a bit of trouble hearing the kick in the backing track due to my speaker quality...
Memory tricks for learning complex basslines?
Ok, so I have a problem when it comes to playing. My ADHD messes with my head and I can't seem to do the root note only thing when I know a song has a more complex bassline. However I've also got the memory retention of a gnat when it comes to complex basslines. Does anyone have a techniques they use to remember more complex stuff? Something that works when all you have is lyrics and chord markers? I'd really like to get past the root notes only thing, so stuff sounds more like it was written and not sound like it's missing something.

To Amp or not to Amp?
That is the question. These days there’s so much talk around not needing an amp, not using an amp and basically “dead “the modern day amp is for Bass Guitar. What do you do? Where do you sit in this conversation? 👀👀 Personally I’ve come almost full circle from carrying a big old heavy PV 4 x 10 cab that weighed 45 kg to bringing just a DI preamp, to now using a smaller amp rig on almost every stage I play. Nothing can replace the real feeling of speakers pushing air and in my experience the whole band tends to perform better with the of the Bass amp because everyone feels the music and groove that much more. These days I use my little RS210 TC cab. I play around with using the TC electronic head or swapping it out for the little mark Bass head. I have a full Aguilar AG700 head with SL212 Cab that is beautiful but 9/10 I'll just go for the slightly smaller rig as it’s easier to transport and fit on any stage.
To Amp or not to Amp?

I use a little Fender Rumble studio 40. Punchy little amp that works great for small to medium locations. It also has all the outputs in case it needs to go FOH. Not to mention it is so light I can carry it with one finger.
