What is your Why?
For me, in a nutshell, it’s about contributing to and facilitating the process for the people around me to achieve their goals, to feel seen, to build confidence on and off of the pitch, about giving people the space to let their voice be heard, whether that’s through them leading loudly or quietly, and enabling them to discover the potential they didn’t know they had. Our 15’s season is over so I took a U12’s sevens team on. I decided it was important to build connections. I constantly create opportunities for players to need each other: - Team tackle bag carries. - Partner tackle drills. - Shark Tank games. - Small-sided games. - Asking players to bring teammates to practice. - Leadership roles (Communication, Energy, Culture leaders).

We have one new player brought in by one of our current players and he went to his Mum to ask if he can stay because he had so much fun playing in a team sport. I found out later his Father passed a few weeks ago, the boy is 11. Unfortunately, he missed the registration deadline two months back, but we scrimmage regularly at trainings and so this provides him with great opportunity to learn the game but more importantly build confidence and an environment where he can feel needed.
Welcome & Free Lesson 🔥
Hi all, Welcome to our new members! 👏 Please drop a comment with where you are from, where you coach and what you’d like to get out of this community. 💡What will you get from the free lesson? (Go to Classroom —> Freebies) Upon completion, you will be able to apply the Name–Action–Need model to give concise, purposeful feedback that supports player confidence, improves focus, and effectively increases the transfer of information. - A simple framework for giving fast, effective pitch-side feedback - Better communication under pressure, especially when players are fatigued - Less over-coaching and fewer long explanations - More player clarity, confidence, and quicker responses - A practical way to keep coaching concise while still giving meaningful direction - A pocket guide which you can apply immediately in training and match-day environments Once you’ve given it a go, please some feedback in the general discussion section, I’d love to see how it went.
