What Changed? 🧠
What’s one belief about music production or creativity you’ve completely changed your mind about over the years? Did you once think you had to suffer for your art? That success required selling out? Or that you could only be inspired in perfect conditions? Share your biggest mindset shifts and how they’ve impacted your work.

Belief. BS. Belief Systems. That I had to sound Exactly! like the big name artists. That I have to grind and work hard. Great way of strangling yourself. And that I need all the big studio stuff. Which I do have. Big garage sale happened. That I have to have perfect monitors ect. Perfect sound. Again BS. All of this stuff can really frighten off the muse/magical creative child within. I just finished one of my best tracks only using my laptop speakers sitting in bed every morning. Headphones would come out sometimes. Mixing will come after the creative work is done. Not using headphones ect took the seriousness out of the equation.Theres lots of oppurtunity for serious much later.
I Released 115 Songs… 5 Biggest Lessons I Learned
1. Trust Your Heart – When I made decisions based on data or trends, I ended up disappointed. But the songs I believed in? Those became the hits. 2. Consistency is Everything – Growth happens when you commit to showing up regularly. Release often, even if you’re not 100% happy. 3. Be Your Own Champion – No one will hear your music if you don’t share it. Post it, promote it, and don’t worry about feeling annoying. 4. Numbers Are a Numbers Game – More music = more chances to connect. Release lots of music, and let time and unexpected moments work their magic. 5. Boost Your Signal – Running ads (like Facebook or Instagram ads) can be a game-changer. Invest in yourself to get heard. Making a music career isn’t easy, and it never becomes “effortless.” But with heart, consistency, and a willingness to invest in yourself, you can make a meaningful impact. ----- What have been the biggest lessons you guys have learned on your journeys so far?

Good one! Great chair! After making really good tracks from my heart for many years I'm finally investing in releasing them properly. Even if my knees are trembling. Keep walking, you find in each moment you get what you need. Like these little messages from a good friend. Thanks Lex!
How Do You Stay Inspired When You’re Just Not Feeling It? 😩
We all know that creative dry spells hit hard. When the motivation just isn’t there, what do you do to get inspired again? Do you have any routines, tricks, or weird habits that help you get back into that creative flow?

@Michael Singleton Yes indeed Micheal. I find stopping is very helpful.
“Self-Love” Is a Trap 🪤
We hear it everywhere these days: “Just love yourself.” It’s become a mantra, a feel-good slogan that promises to fix everything from self-doubt to depression. But what if I told you that this relentless pursuit of self-love is actually holding you back? The problem with the way we’re taught to “love ourselves” is that it often turns into another reason to reject the parts of us we find difficult to accept. We think, “If I could just love myself more, I wouldn’t feel so anxious, so insecure, so… broken.” And so we plaster on positivity, force smiles, and try to smooth over the rough edges, thinking we’re doing the work. But what we’re really doing is avoiding our shadows - those messy, raw, uncomfortable parts that don’t fit neatly into the narrative of self-love. True growth doesn’t come from pretending to love every part of ourselves. It comes from turning toward the darkness, those unlovable bits we’re so eager to hide away. It’s about staring our fears, insecurities, and past mistakes in the face and saying, “I see you. I’m not going to run away.” Real self-love includes the hard stuff. It’s messy and painful. It means acknowledging the parts of yourself that you’d rather not look at - the jealousy, the anger, the moments you’ve let yourself and others down. It’s accepting that you’re a complex, imperfect being, and that those imperfections don’t make you less worthy. They make you human. When you stop trying so hard to love yourself and start accepting yourself - including all the parts you’d rather reject - that’s when real love has a chance to grow. It’s not about turning darkness into light; it’s about holding them both at once, with no need to change what is. So, if you’ve been struggling to “love yourself,” try a different approach. Sit with your shadows. Invite them in. Listen to what they have to say. They aren’t here to destroy you. They’re here to teach you, to show you where you’re still holding back, where you’re still trying to be something you’re not.

Truth is a pathless land filled with many opposites and paradoxes. When one has tried everything and is led to choiceles inquiry. A sincere solo examination of the entire mechanism of the “self”. Than perhaps that individual has just started to scratch the surface. There is no one way to anything. If self love is the view at the moment than that is step that is needed. When that changes than it’s the shadow view. And when that passes it’s forgiveness and on and on. Does the self mind seek security in identification with whatever sensation or thing it’s going through? For me personally I’m all of these things at the same time. And none of it all. So go poke your shadows and fart rainbows at the same time. It’s all quite wonderful.
My track. Recharging
Hello this a track I’m proud of. I put my heart and soul into this. And felt satisfied with the over all feel of it. I’m looking forward to writing more tracks like this with a new focus on harmony and melody. Also this time with more intention on theme. Thank you so much for taking your valuable time to listen to this. Look forward to hear your creations! https://soundcloud.com/kabumi/recharging/s-AYWvldcUzWX?in=kabumi/sets/ep1-3/s-nMQRtqxb1el&si=06548955e09c4b208010dbcb5e4209e2&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Thankyou so much for giving it a listen. It definitely could use a fresh mix in that area. I used a Stephan Bodzin track as a reference. I will check out Lane 8 for sure.
