Author Reads: Healing from trauma, abuse, and neglect—Rooted Strong, Rising Tall book
https://www.aHappyHippie.com/books When you grow up—or live for any length of time—in an environment where your feelings are ignored, dismissed, or even punished, your mind learns a very clever survival skill: keep everyone else happy, and maybe you’ll stay safe. In those moments, saying “yes” when you really mean “no,” staying quiet when you long to speak up, or taking care of everyone else’s needs before your own isn’t weakness. It’s your inner protector stepping in. It’s a part of you that whispers, “If I can just keep the peace, maybe I won’t get hurt.” Over time, this becomes second nature. People-pleasing starts to feel like the safest way through a world that can feel harsh, unpredictable, or lonely. Sometimes, even the smallest bit of kindness—earned by putting others first—feels like a lifeline. At first, it might seem like a way to stay in control: “If I can be good enough, helpful enough, agreeable enough, maybe everything will calm down.” But the peace that people-pleasing brings is fragile. It often comes at the cost of your own voice, your own needs, your own truth. And after a while, it’s easy to lose sight of who you really are underneath all the “shoulds” and “musts.” When your sense of worth becomes tied to how others feel, it can leave you feeling hollow, exhausted, and never quite enough. That aching emptiness sometimes tries to fill itself in whatever ways it can—through overworking, perfectionism, food, alcohol, approval, attention, or constant

Rooted Strong, Rising Tall - Author reads Introduction
https://www.aHappyHippie.com/books When we first arrive in this world, we are a blank slate. We have no knowledge of how life is “supposed” to be. Everything we come to understand about the world—how to behave, how to relate to others, how to view ourselves—is taught to us through the training we receive from those around us. Our parents, siblings, family members, friends, teachers, classmates, neighbors, community members, bosses, and partners—all of them become teachers in their own way. Even the media that floods our daily lives sends constant messages about how we should think, feel, act, and even love. Every interaction, every experience adds a thread to the fabric of our understanding. However, not all of us are given loving or nurturing environments in which to grow. Often, the people responsible for raising and shaping us were themselves carrying the weight of their own programming—the lessons, wounds, and patterns they absorbed from those before them. In many cases, the ways they treated us were reflections of their own unhealed pain and unconscious beliefs. Because this programming can be so deeply ingrained, dysfunction and even abuse can feel “normal” to those who pass it on—and to those who receive it. What is familiar often feels safe, even when it is harmful. Without realizing it, many of us internalize the pain we experience, building our sense of self around it.

Coffee w/G-Ma: The Body Speaks—we only need to listen—Sound, vibration, humming, and healing
Man, I was up early this morning! 3:00 am is a great time to reflect, release, and renew though. but Imma need a NAP later! Your body speaks. It remembers. In the cracks of tension, through vibration, through voice — healing wants to be heard. This morning with G-Ma, I share my morning story of how I woke up feeling tense and congested — and how I turned inward, tuned into my body, and began releasing what’s been stuck. In this video, you’ll walk with me through: How I used a vibration plate to move energy The power of hydration and gentle water rituals Humming, singing, and sound as tools for unlocking emotion Listening to your body’s signals: trust, curiosity, compassion Why somatic healing isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a path to deeper connection. Join me in this intimate morning ritual, and let’s remember that true wellness begins by returning to ourselves.
