I’m not sure when would be best for me, it agree that Friday’s are hard lol. Here is a question though for tomorrow, is Patreon a viable pathway to full time, need+want fulfilling work for creative types? Do you need to run a patreon like a business, Or like a chatroom in order to be successful in your endeavors there? I ask because I haven’t given it an honest effort and I hear lots of artists and podcasters refer to their patreon, but I feel a barrier to adopting it as a member of their audience, and in the case of podcasts they often still run ads, which makes me feel like the patreon component isn’t ever enough to be the sole income stream for a creative, but I haven’t tried it seriously enough to totally pass judgement

Who are you? My name is Robin Kennard. Formerly Robert. I’m a student, writer, and creative thinker who’s passionate about helping others and finding new ways to solve problems. What are you trying to sell (NO links or pitches)? I’m developing a subscription service where people receive biweekly physical letters from fictional characters in the mail. The idea is to bring back the joy of handwritten correspondence in a world that’s dominated by digital communication—something tangible, thoughtful, and personal. While also telling a story What has stood in your way of success? My biggest obstacles so far have been balancing the time and resources needed to grow the idea while also managing school and work. I’ve also had to push past the fear of putting my work out into the world and trusting that people will connect with it. Share an interesting, random, or noteworthy fact about yourself. Although it isn’t all of my identity, I feel it’s important to share with this community that I am transgender, I’m navigating that and happy to engage in respectful conversations about the topic. I’m still working on coming out to everyone in my personal life, but that is something I hope to do soon

@Erica Osborn I wonder if. Allowing potential customers to choose your own adventure could resurrect the genre.
A little informal market research
Thinking like a consumer, could you all answer a few questions for me? First would you see value in subscribing to a service which sends you a story in the form of a letter? A story that plays out over months through these letters as if the narrator or character is corresponding with you? Second, if you see any value in that, can you put a specific dollar amount on the value you see? Example 5$ a month, or whatever. I just have no idea what to even ask for!

@John Kraczek there is a third party that does it, but of course I’d like to do that in house https://letterfriend.com/?utm_term=handwritten%20letter&utm_campaign=ggl_us_nonbrand_broad-ai-max&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=1578378824&hsa_cam=22795144022&hsa_grp=188102489688&hsa_ad=684947385488&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-337576522316&hsa_kw=handwritten%20letter&hsa_mt=e&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22795144022&gbraid=0AAAAADmld9BxEUgq9lxvymkQCW0Szluf_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwh5vFBhCyARIsAHBx2wyAXZ1FR1RBFs_4u92zpPiYRiDGO1sDEPoT-oVPKiUjgl5ctiFgKo8aAsjBEALw_wcB
Kim asked for a loyalty/punchcard program
@Kim Kraczek Asked for a loyalty program for her Soda and Popcorn trailer. Here are some of the things she wanted: - A way for someone to sign up for the loyalty program (QR Code, linking to a form to sign up) - It would be nice to have a way to add that loyalty card to your Apple or Google wallet. - An employee portal page where you can scan the code from someone's Apple/Google wallet and then add data to their contact record as to the status of their loyalty. For example: Buy 10 drinks and get 1 free. Each time the card is scanned, it adds one to their data for that item - There should be a way for you to track more than one type of loyalty product (such as popcorn, drinks, etc.), each with its own count. When the count is full, then send an email/text message with a custom coupon code that they can use to get their free item.

So I think that major restaurants avoid the nuanced and varied loyalty program like this one that you’re describing because I think they’re nervous about consumers fully understanding how the program functions completely. But also they see a higher ROI with just a simple points to dollars conversion. I’m in no way saying that a loyalty program like that is ideal, but I do think that consumer understanding of an increasingly complex loyalty program is something they would need to be understood. I think the big strength to this idea is the digital card because it lowers expenditure on the companies behalf, not a physical card to everyone and sign up, but I also think that what’s being described here could simply somehow be tracked by phone number as well. So keep everything you describe and allow customers who are interested in doing so to track and manage their own progress towards a loyalty reward, but also have the system just automatically track progress towards a reward based on phone number because I think that you will get plenty of customers Who view tracking their own progress towards a reward as a tedious thing. Still send the email/text that you mentioned but on the POS (point of sale) software that employees use make it very easy for employees to see if a reward is available for a given customer

@Kim Kraczek the other thought I just had, and you are probably aware of this, but the beauty of having rewards tied to specific products (buy ten of one flavor cookie, get the next one free) is that people are getting rewarded for the things they care about only, but also cost wise you might get better return, because if a customer buys drinks, or offers to use the company card to buy drinks, which cost you very little, then redeem their 11th free item on a gourmet cookie, that could potentially net you a negative in profits, depending on the production cost of said cookie. Chick-fil-A manages this by saying that things which cost them little, like drinks, or things that historically sell poorly, are worth low loyalty points, and things that are costly, like chicken, or things that are quite popular, are worth more points. But your set up now seems simpler to me, after thinking about it for a day,
What is ONE thing you are excited about using this software for?

@John Kraczek I’m struggling to make a plan to market my idea on channels that I already have a decent following on, (namely TikTok) Further down the road I would want a story management system, something that keeps track of which issue in the overall story is up next. I hope to have several different stories that can be subscribed too. Each with approximately 25 chapters or letters, and when I’m closer to launching I would love advice on how to manage and track which letter gets sent at which time to which subscribers. But for now I need money!

@John Kraczek I recognize the only way this is scalable at this moment is for the letters to be printed. But also I’m aware of a machine that is similar to autocad, which gives the impression of handwriting but produces on a huge scale. I imagine that is cost prohibiting to start with but might have a good too later on.
