Awesome. At the final couple minutes of this video I am hearing and feeling the uh before beat two after a little work. Easy but keeping the pocket is taking practice. This is good. Looking forward to this afternoon. Totally confused about time - Greenwich Mean that is. My calendar likes home time in Windsor Canada and I am still in London. Got it figured out but daylight savings changes at different dates in UK and Canada. Will log on at correct UK time time today.
Clocks are changing tonight in UK!
Hey everyone, good weekend so far? Any gigs, jams, listening, practice going on? I’d love to hear what you’re up to, listening to and working on. Feel free to share below :) A quick note… Look out for the clocks changing tonight here in the UK. The event in our calendar should be showing the correct time for your timezone but you can also use this online timezone converter to double check: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html See you on Monday at 3.30pm UK time for our Rhythm Workout!

@John Free Wow is all I can say. I became a Basie fan a few years ago. So many great tunes and arrangements.

@David Isbell Figure they promoted you for a reason!! Sounds like you have the time and attitude to take advantage of playing with more experienced musicians. That’s truly a gift. I had a similar experience when joining a big band of much more skilled players who already knew the 20 or so different charts we rehearsed weekly from their enormous repertoire. After a couple months they complimented me on how much I had improved (and how bad I was when I started). All I can say is Keep the faith and have fun and listen to any advice bandmates offer. It’s a great opportunity.

@David Isbell I understand your feeling youth is wasted on the young. The jazz workshops I have attended with young musicians are sobering but inspiring at the same time. The young cats pick up stuff fast but it’s almost all technical. Anyway that’s what I tell myself. At 76 I may not have all that showy technique they absorb fast but I have some life experience that I strive to express in music. The kids grow into that gradually. I keep adding to my technique and understanding while seeking to have fun and express myself. So after 60 years of piano here I am finally in Rhythm Skool. . And no stress. It’s fun. I’m learning new skills. Listening to Fabrizio De Andre today. Cheers to all in Rhythm skills school.
