(READ THIS ALOUD 3x) Can’t wait for people to acknowledge my dopeness when I already know that I’m dope. Can’t wait for somebody to give me an opportunity when I’ve got the mind, the hands, and the hunger to build my own. I’m not about to sit around hoping somebody notices what I’ve been carrying this whole time. If I can see it, if I can feel it, if it won’t let me sleep... then it’s real enough to move on. God didn’t put this in me for me to babysit it. Didn’t wire me like this just for me to be quiet, polite, and patient forever. At some point patience turns into hiding, and I’m not hiding anymore. This isn’t the season to keep telling myself “soon.” This is the season to start acting like it’s now. Not just one version of me either. Not just the preacher. Not just the pastor.
