Taking a break for now
Hey guys, didn't want to do a silent exit so here is why I'm not active at the moment. I was hoping my new job would be chill enough to give me the opportunity to put some time into training. Unfortunately it turns out to be more energy and time consuming than I expected. At least it's not boring 😬... However atm I barely get a consistent basic health routine in. Due to lack of energy in the late evening when I can actually do something, I can't put in focused effort and it got a bit frustrating to work on a skill that way. So anyways for now it's back to health focus for me. It's been a blast though and I learned a lot. Thanks to all of you for all the support and of course to @Yuri Marmerstein for his great teaching and philosophy. I learned a lot more than handstand here 🙏. And to @Michael Kosoff for the great social glue ☺️. I still hope I can rejoin at some point and wish you all humongous fun and an inspiring journey.
May Workshop
Ever wonder how to balance without putting so much stress on the hands/wrists? 🤔

Did watch it on the weekend and tried to incorporate it. It's still a bit above my skill level to play much with it, but it's super interesting to already build some awareness. Reducing wrist stress is very important to me since I feel it quickly no matter how much I warm up. The workshop gave me a good idea again of much stress I should actually feel so now I can check my position against that.
Some kick ups
Totally forgot I recorded some kick ups. Was a bit surprised by the strong side lean.

@Alexandre Andermatt thx, that sounds rly interesting. Do you have a link to the isometrics or can describe the execution? I'm not sure how arm position holding the stick should look (overhead?). Atm I do regular rotator cuffs with wrist bands. Holding isometric positions with as far as possible backward rotated hands while keeping shoulders to front and pushing out chest. The other hand moves a resistence band over my head to give input I isometrically work against. It's similar to what Yuri once released for shoulder prehab with focus on rotator cuffs. Maybe that's similar. I also don't have much trouble with the shoulders at the moment as far as I can tell. Lower back is my trouble child 😂. But I keep it in check. The leaning struck rly surprised me. I've never seen it before and I'll tackle it with conscious pushes and setup as you and Yuri suggested for now. It really showed me I should record more often to see those changes early on. Today I'm gonna record wall holds as well to check if it's there in static position as well.

@Yuri Marmerstein and also @Alexandre Andermatt took your advice to the weekend session and experimented a bit with positioning. I ended up with a combination of more push in right arm as well as shifting the chest to the left as a whole (if that makes sense). I also relaxed a bit mentally and focused on breathing out again to loosen up. I think the session went well (will upload later).
May workshop
I’m looking at trying to do the May workshop this weekend. Or possibly Monday since that’s a holiday Any requests on what do you want the topic to be? I can also combine the Q&A with it since we didn’t get anyone able to attend the last session

@Eugene D yes I'd love to see that too. It changed a lot for me in terms of wrist strain after I integrated it a little bit. Would like to focus on it more

I'm down for workshop tomorrow if it's the early time again
April challenge
Here is the challenge for April: Five entries to handstand The idea is to perform five entries to handstand in a row with minimal to no pause in between each one other than lifting the hands. The goal is to have the control and precision so that you can take each one to a free balance handstand with minimal correction/adjustment. in the video, I’m doing one of each of the five main entries: kicks with both legs, tuck, straddle, and pike. I’m holding the handstand for a couple seconds to show that I’m in control, as I land, I quickly lift my hands and then reset for the next repetition. If this is a little bit advanced for some of you, below are some ways to scale it down: -five entries to Handstand of your choice, still doing them with a quick reset and trying to hold the balance. -five entries to handstand, only marking the balancing position without the extended hold. -five entries to handstand in a row without lifting the hands from the floor. -five entries to handstand demonstrating the shape but not necessarily going up to the full handstand position So the basic idea is just five entries to handstand in a row. You can vary them or do the same one five times if you want, but the idea is to build consistency through a multiple rep combo Give it a try, post it, and at the end of the month I will make a video with Feedback

Soooo I'm back...ish new job is currently eating all my time for sports but it can't go on like this. So I'm trying to restructure my day to fit stuff in again. Currently getting up an hour earlier 😭. Since weekends were also packed, today was my first real training day in ages. Minimal handstand workout + some snatches since I wanna get back on that train as well cause my overall power is diminishing now. I rly felt the pause today but it felt good to do something again. Anyways I promised some comedic effect so here it goes... no shirts no shoes 😂. The untrained entries, especially pike and straddle (did a bit of tucked a long while ago) felt super awkward but not impossible. I'd need to get a better understanding of the mechanics (but I still have to watch the workshop session). Thinking about mixing those in but I'm not sure if that will give good new impulses or hinder progressing the kick up entries 🤔.

@Yuri Marmerstein great advice, thanks I'll take that into my next session. Atm I'm swamped and also so freaking sore in my legs from snatches, that I can barely kick up. Hope for some more time tomorrow
