Knee down on public roads
Honest question, looking for an honest answer. Why do so many sport bike riders strive for body position and getting a knee down on public streets? Of course there is the group of beginner riders that think that's "just how you do it", but I'm talking about experienced riders that do it going 20mph around an easy curve. (spoiler: The answer I'm looking for is "it's definitely more dangerous, but super fun and I can't help myself!")

I don't drag knees on either of my motorcycles, it's just not a cruiser, or dad bike skill. Its more of a sport bike thing. You have to slide around on your seat, and I find that they need set up time/track skills.

@Dave Klod I personally equate "knee dragging" with "wannabe racers", which is fine, just save it for track days, which have runouts. Riding at a level which requires knee dragging is just beyond most street level riders. And almost never will you see Harley riders dragging a knee, unless it's a Dyna-bro.

@Daniel Tolomei I prefer GoPro, the Insta360 gives me vertigo.

@Daniel Tolomei I've got a drone, I could get great video of someone else, but I can't film myself with it because I have to fly it.

@Joseph Bell My old bike (the 07 which I sold to my best friend for a deal he couldn't refuse), and my 2018.

@Joseph Bell I've got a really good friend who has a 2003 Electra Glide with a TC 88, and the 585 cams, and it goes well. He kept up without problems with my TC 103, and SE255 high torque cams, dyno'd at 115hp. Not sure how he'll do against the M8 with 468 Redshift cam?
Hello

@Joseph Bell I put in the Dynojet VI tuner.

@Joseph Bell I went with the Dynojet PowerVision III tuner, because I absolutely hate using the Harley Davidson dealer for anything, especially maintenance. The majority of the mechanics at the dealer are kids barely out of school, and with very little experience. My mechanic charges less than half of what the dealer charges, plus he's got 45 years of experience!
Hey All!
My name is Marie, but most folks in the crew know me as Smee. I've been riding since September 2023, which is when I bought my Sweet Baby Two-Fiddy - a 2012 Honda CBR250R - and took my MSF at our local Harley dealership. A year later, I sold my 250 to a local girl who just passed her MSF and bought a brand-new 2024 CBR500R. Been super happy with it, and have zero plans to upgrade unless Fate forces my hand. When I'm not on the bike, I'm in a 2015 Mustang convertible because I'm a tad bit spoiled by The Hubster, and in my free time I'm knitting, belly dancing, or doing something rugby related. I'm looking forward to continuing my skills through the Skool because lord knows my slow speed maneuvering is terrible and really needs work. Fun Fact: I was so excited to be able to back out of a parking spot when I went yarn shopping one day that I immediately sent this to my parents when I got home lol... My CBR is just a smidge too tall for me, so I can't flatfoot it.
