Free Ear Training Games
Hi!! I stumbled across some free ear training games. So far, I'm impressed. Maybe this can be useful for others too. Audiodrillz

I was just looking for something like this for compression practice. Thanks @Steven Casale
Reducing plosives and sibilance when recording vocals
What’s the best approach (in your experience) to mic placement to help reduce plosives and sibilance when recording vocals? I recently saw @Caleb Loveless mention in a Start to Finish Studio Session that hanging a microphone upside down can help tame sibilant vocals. I’d love to understand more about how that works. Would positioning the mic this way also help with plosives? I’m really trying to get things right at the source so I can minimise editing and plugin work later. I’ve been working on a track that calls for a softer, sometimes whispery vocal delivery. Because I’m singing closer to the mic, plosives have become much more noticeable. I’m recording with a Rode NT1-A in a DIY-treated room (thick blankets, duvets, mattresses, etc.). Any advice would be appreciated.
Trying to verify my membership
Hi all, is there a way I can tell what level/VIP-or-not of membership I have? I know I signed up for one or the other, I just can't remember which! I looked on my profile and didn't see anything there that would indicate it.

Oh, yeah! Me too. I’d no idea until @Nick Allegro told me what membership I had.
Waves plugins - renew coverage
Hey everyone! Is this common that you have to renew and pay for plug ins you have purchased from different providers? I’ve attached a photo of the Paz Analyser that we bought as part of Prod 101.

@Clifton Duncan yep! I’ve used it since and all seems ok. I had thought I had a grace period when the plan date ended and then it would stop working. I didn’t know this about Wave plug ins, so I’ll keep it mind when purchasing from them from now on.
How do you start writing or recording a new song?
Hi everyone. Sometimes it can be difficult to finish a song, so I wanted to ask how you usually start recording one. 1. Do you begin with a simple piano arrangement, record the best vocal takes you can, and then build the instrumental arrangement around them? 2. Do you write and arrange the entire song first, and only then record the vocals? 3. Do you start by recording the elements that matter most and define the vibe of the song, and then add other elements that give it color? What is your personal workflow?

I usually start by writing the song on acoustic guitar. I’ll record a rough guide track in the DAW and map out the structure—verses, choruses, bridge, and so on. From there, I’ll add the chord progressions, especially if I plan to use a session drummer or bass player, and start experimenting with sounds to see what the song is calling for. Once I’m happy with the arrangement, I’ll open a fresh project and set up some DIY acoustic treatment—hanging heavy blankets and using pillows or a mattress to reduce reflections. Then I set the room up to record the vocals and guitar, and bring in mates to play any additional parts if needed. Get the best takes, edit them, organize them and send them as stems to be mixed in another project.

I’m Rob. Delighted to have the opportunity to try put the music I have in my head onto a DAW canvas. Making music is a hobby I enjoy immensely.
