Waves plugins - renew coverage
Hey everyone! Is this common that you have to renew and pay for plug ins you have purchased from different providers? I’ve attached a photo of the Paz Analyser that we bought as part of Prod 101.

@Clifton Duncan yep! I’ve used it since and all seems ok. I had thought I had a grace period when the plan date ended and then it would stop working. I didn’t know this about Wave plug ins, so I’ll keep it mind when purchasing from them from now on.
How do you start writing or recording a new song?
Hi everyone. Sometimes it can be difficult to finish a song, so I wanted to ask how you usually start recording one. 1. Do you begin with a simple piano arrangement, record the best vocal takes you can, and then build the instrumental arrangement around them? 2. Do you write and arrange the entire song first, and only then record the vocals? 3. Do you start by recording the elements that matter most and define the vibe of the song, and then add other elements that give it color? What is your personal workflow?

I usually start by writing the song on acoustic guitar. I’ll record a rough guide track in the DAW and map out the structure—verses, choruses, bridge, and so on. From there, I’ll add the chord progressions, especially if I plan to use a session drummer or bass player, and start experimenting with sounds to see what the song is calling for. Once I’m happy with the arrangement, I’ll open a fresh project and set up some DIY acoustic treatment—hanging heavy blankets and using pillows or a mattress to reduce reflections. Then I set the room up to record the vocals and guitar, and bring in mates to play any additional parts if needed. Get the best takes, edit them, organize them and send them as stems to be mixed in another project.
sound ID issues….
I am having big issues with sonarworks soundID trying to use it system wide…. (i don't really want to use loopback if can find a way to get it to work otherwise…?). Has anyone had success getting it to work so your headphone profiles can be used system-wide without the system getting hijacked? I am using it on a macbook air…. appreciate any suggestions!!!!

Hey Lisa! Yeah, I’ve got SonarID to work system side for my headphones. I had an initial issue with the output signal on the SonarID desktop app when I was trying to load the headphone profile. It wasn’t lined up with the right output to my interface. I looked at output settings on my interface desktop app and activated a setting there and it lined up and started working through the DAW and then system wide. I use a MacBook Pro. Hope this helps.

@Lisa Carton I'm using a Focusrite 18i8. Yeah, I remember trying to figure it out on sound settings on the MacBook but I got nowhere. As soon as the SonarID app got talking the Focusrite app it recognised it on the MacBook. It kicked in after that. What are you hooking your headphones up to?
Who's got music on Spotify? Drop your links here!
Who's already releasing music on Spotify (or other DSPs)? Drop your links, I want to hear where everyone is at sonically right now. Also, let's start leveraging this circle of like-minded producers and musicians!I love finding new music, and the more stuff you can tell the algorithm you like, the more good stuff Spotify recommends- I want to know what y'all are making. My personal playlists need new sounds. I'm a fan of lots of electronic music, rock, metal, pop, and hip hop/rap personally, so if you make any of this, I wanna hear it! Pro tip- 30 seconds counts as a stream. Spotify likes when people "like" a song or save a song to your playlist. These are positive signals, so if you're vibing you know what to do. Skips, or less-than-30-second plays are negative signals to the platform, so let's all try not to do give Spotify negative signals, even if you're not into the music people are sharing.

https://open.spotify.com/artist/15onZcFGPas8smgM6MLDfM?si=ds0BOq9oRu6XEEYamAWbuQ An album and EP here from 2020 and 2022! I would describe it as Acoustic Alt Folk. Some Irish traditional, Gypsy Jazz and modern R&B songs there too. All produced, mixed and mastered in a mates home studio.
What's your DAW?
What DAWs is everyone using and why did you choose that particular one or more? Mine is Steinberg Nuendo 4.3. I also just got FL Studio.

I use Logic Pro. A guy at my local studio hooked me up with a copy of it 10+ years ago and he was able to give me a head start on it. I was using GarageBand before that on an iPad 😆

I’m Rob. Delighted to have the opportunity to try put the music I have in my head onto a DAW canvas. Making music is a hobby I enjoy immensely.
