Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill
OK, admit it, you read it. Of course Rich doesn't just mean $$$$ For me, I am reading for third time, it's about mindset and bloody-mindedness. What did you get out of it?

Never read it. But will put it in my list.
Anger Comes from Within
OK, I said it. It is a fact. We often believe that things or people make us angry. The truth is, it is ourselves. I blamed everyone else in the world for 50+ years. When that person cuts me up on the road I have a RESPONSaibilt....an ABILITY to RESPOND, rather than react. I used to react, or repress feelings/anger etc. How do you deal with your triggers?

Something that helped me so much is an emotion lasts for around 90 seconds. Beyond that it’s us that keeps the story going. I have spoke about ‘the princess pause’ i taught my daughter in the past (on my group u may remember). I have heard it called ‘the pause’ ‘taking a beat’, whatever u call it. It’s giving space between trigger and reaction to allow the first swell of emotion to build and subside. Then reacting. It’s one of the things I teach a lot of my clients. Whether it’s a trauma client, a client with ADHD or a couple who get into verbal disagreements easily. Teaching them to sit for a minute while the emotion reaches crescendo without responding is one of the most powerful tools a person can have. The ability to sit in the uncomfortable emotions and sensations then reacting as u begin to calm.
Why am I feeling angry?😡
I was just out for a walk with my dog. He was pulling a lot and I was getting frustrated (read angry). I asked myself the question...."why am I angry?" This was an advancement for me. For SO MANY YEARS I thought it was someone/something who was "making" me angry. Now I know anger comes from within. (more on that tomorrow) How do you respond effectively to your emotions? (there are no wrong answers)

Acknowledge it. Give it space to be there. Ask ‘what’s the story I am telling myself’? Movement can help move it through u.
Value quotes
I have one quote I keep sellotaped to my computer. I will attach a photo. What quote do you use to keep you grounded in who you are and who you are becoming?

@Andrew Nelson my body never felt a safe place in the past. Neither my outside world. But I have worked hard to make sure it is.
The RACE to the Bottom KILLS US.
Self-awarenesss preceeds change. Change around us is inevitable. OUR ability to change (improve in character and maturity) is limited by our failures to change in the past. I tried many times and failed, because I gave up. The VALUE in change IS the failures. The failures can either confirm that you CAN'T CHANGE ......OR they challenge us to be mentally flexible and strong. Make the change different, smaller, not alone, anything to get the little win. Then when you fail again, you grow in perseverance. We are constantly trained by society to make things easier/more convenient, but that is the race to the bottom. That KILLS US. It is the harder things that are the race to the top. What do you think?

I think as parents we need to allow our children to struggle in order to help them fail and build resilience. Fail, wait, grow and feel the uncomfortableness it creates.
