Work it! Work it!
Namaste!
I met Veronica through her Yoga classes. As I began to have my own struggles with work life balance, I have recently been working on my own wellness journey. Exploring relaxation, grounding and centring techniques that connect for me. I look forward to seeing what the Owl Garden Wellness community has to bring to each other!

A personal health update
This post isn’t about seeking sympathy—it’s about opening up a conversation around women’s health and the challenges we face when advocating for ourselves. For context, I hadn’t had a period in three years due to having an IUD. I had it removed in December, and this past Tuesday, I experienced an extremely heavy period with significant clotting. When I say heavy, I mean soaking through a pad in under an hour. I nearly fainted and was extremely weak. My husband had to call 911. The paramedics gave me an IV and took me to the hospital. I informed the staff that my iron was already significantly low, as confirmed by recent blood work. After hours of waiting in the hallway, a doctor briefly came to see me. He didn’t do an exam—no ultrasound, didn’t see a gyno. Just told me they would give me medication to stop the bleeding and send me home. When I asked questions about the medication, he became irritated and didn’t answer. When the nurse later brought it to me, I chose to defer taking it. The doctor returned, visibly frustrated, and said, “You came for heavy bleeding, that’s what we’re treating you for.” I deferred again so he discharged me. At no point did they address my low iron, my exhaustion, or my overall well-being. I’ve been home resting for four days, still feeling cold, weak, and drained. What struck me most wasn’t just the lack of thorough care—it was the way I was spoken to. I was simply advocating for my own health, and instead of being heard, I was dismissed. Unfortunately, this is a common experience for many women when seeking medical care. I want to bring awareness to these issues. Have you ever felt unheard or dismissed when advocating for your health? Let’s talk about it.

I have had similar experience when I got super sick. I went to the hospital for what I thought was a heart attack. They just threw pills at me but I asked.. but what’s the problem? I was only 38 years old at the time. I shouldn’t be feeling like this. Like you, no tests. No actual exams. Just pills. I asked what the pills were going to do and the one I would have had to be on for life once I started it because it changes something in the body. That terrified me. And I still didn’t know WHY i was feeling like that. I also decided to not take the pills. I went to a super amazing, and lucky to find her, she dove deep into testing my body for a wide range of things, including testing my stress hormones. Turns out I was in adrenal failure. And some Other issues from being completely depleted from over working in a high stress job. I was straightened out with some Life style changes and supplementations. I Also left the job that was killing me. Had I not fought to know what was ACTUALLY wrong I would prob still be on toxic medications that I didn’t even need. Doctors don’t medical any more. They symptom manage by looking things up in a computer and prescrib medication that you probably don’t need which cone with their own bag of issues and side effects. Often mot solving the actual issue. I am really sorry to hear you were treated like that and I hope you are ok my friend.

Truth bomb. Women have so many more roles to play then ever before and we are trained that we have to do it all, and sacrificing ourselves is our duty as women but its wrong….
