Happy Sunday Guitarist
Hey everyone I hope you are well and enjoying a beautiful Sunday. Jake G. is in recovery from the surgery so he might not be as active over the next couple days. Everything went well, all things considered. 😢 So in light of circumstances I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the importance of dreams and goals. @Deborah Zettlemoyer made a post the other day talking about why do you play guitar and I thought it brings up a fantastic point. Why do we play? Sure, everyone has an answer to that question but unless guitar is how you make a living... It usually ends up on the bottom of the priority list every day. Let's change that!!! - Your guitar should always be accessible. The more work it is to get it out the less likely you grab it and play - 5 to 15 minutes most days is better than an hour every 2 weeks. - Save dessert for last. What ever it is that you are most excited about save it for the last thing you do. - Track your practice, sounds trivial but writing things down is super powerful and for extra fuel record yourself. I hope this helps. Please share your top tips for success in the comments 👇 Have a wonderful day.

It's been very hectic for me the last 4 weeks, with work and my basement recently flooded, but I didn't give up practicing. Easy is sitting within easy reach at all times. I do the spider walk to start off, then do chord changes, run through HWNN and practice HOG. My Christmas song is my goal song, I want to play it at the family Christmas Eve party. Since I was still having issues with chord changes, I started praying over it, asking for clarity on how to fix it. He answered me with one word: G-WODs (wait, is that a word?). So I arranged the chord progressions into a G-WOD, changing the chord every 1st beat, but increasing the bpm by 8 every 3 minutes. Started at 40bpm; now I'm up to 64bpm and I can tell it's working. To be honest, I don't think I'm ready for the Ear training because I think it is beyond my reach right now-it feels like trying to play Long Train Runnin by the Doobie Brothers when I can't even change simple chords cleanly yet. I tried the ear training in late July/August and was completely lost and overwhelmed. These past weeks, I have learned that I must go very slow, and practice the small nuggets I'm working on and not take on more new stuff until I have them memorized.

Finger picking HOG
I was messing around with some finger picking this weekend and thought I would share my version of HOG (Heart of Gold) fingerstyle. Enjoy!!!
