One of the attendees on the 2/25/2026 call said, "Speakers have to remember you are the guide not the hero." Too often even those of us with a few years of experience forget this key to being successful on the stages we frequent. It inspired me to pen a Linked In newsletter that will publish on 2/28/2026. I've made it a key ingredient of the advice I give new speakers in individual trainings, particularly those coming out of corporate backgrounds. This simple observation can help you to be more memorable.

This really resonates. When speakers shift from hero to guide, the room relaxes and paradoxically, the message lands deeper. The audience isnโ€™t there to admire our journey, theyโ€™re there to see themselves more clearly.
