Keeping Your Google Business Profile Fresh: A Simple Guide for Agencies & Small Businesses 🚀
If you want more eyes on your business and happy customers at your door, keeping your Google Business Profile up to date is a must. Not only does it boost your local search visibility, but it also helps folks find the right info when they need it most. Let's walk through how to keep your profile sparkling and why it matters for digital marketing agencies and small businesses alike. Why Bother Updating Your Google Business Profile? Imagine a customer checking your hours online, only to show up and find the doors locked. Or worse, they drive to the wrong address because your listing hasn’t been updated. That’s a recipe for frustration—and lost business. Google wants to help people find what they’re looking for, so keeping your details current is good for everyone. Claim and Verify Your Listing: The Starting Line 🏁 Before you can make changes, you need to claim and verify your business. Here’s how: - Search for your business on Google Maps. - If you spot your business, click on it. - Choose “Claim this business” and hit “Manage now.” - Google will guide you through verification (options might include phone, text, email, or video). - Once verified, you’re ready to roll! Editing Your Business Info: Easy as Pie 🥧 Updating your profile is pretty straightforward: - Log in to Google Business Manager. - Select your business listing. - Click the pencil icon next to the section you want to update (like hours, address, or phone number). - Make your changes and hit “Apply.” Heads up: Sometimes updates can take up to 60 days to show up, so it’s smart to check back and make sure everything looks right. Add Some Personality: Photos, Services & More 📸 Your profile isn’t just about the basics. You can also: - Add photos to showcase your space or products. - List services, menus, or products. - Post updates (think special hours, events, or health policies). - Respond to customer reviews and messages. These touches make your business stand out and keep customers in the loop.

What’s the best listing management tool you have used or currently recommend. In the past I’ve used Moz Local (years ago), Bright Local and manual. I haven’t been super impressed with many. They can’t always read and find directory listings. For example a couple tools don’t even recognize when a client has a Facebook page. Looking for recommendations because making it consistent across the web is critical.

Just downloaded and digesting. Lot's of great insights here. I wonder if you meant for the 90 day implementation plan to only include the 2 sections? week 1-2 and week 11-12 I'm putting together a AI overview or LLM optimization check list to run clients through in a 9-12 week sprint to test how it works on a select group of clients. And to build case studies for my agency. If you truly have published a 90 implementation plan and are sharing it - I would love to see the full list. Thanks for sharing this guide - supports a lot of what I've been seeing and steps I'm trying to actively take clients through. We saw on page FAQ get pickup for clients specific question 3 weeks after launching a brand new website. Client was thrilled. What have you learned or seeing about these LLMS.txt files?

@Lane Houk So out of curiosity I checked out this new map link. I always used the GBP map embed map code from the GBP listing. This new tile launches Google API console and while I stumbled through it - I genuinely want to know how this map code embedd is better than the other method for SEO juice? I placed it on one of my pages to visually see what it looked like. It definitely embeds as a whole widget; not just a map; so I wouldn't recommend it for website footers where we want more control of the look; but placed in an FAQ/Accordion section on service, city or about pages does make sense. Am I overlooking anything here?

@Lane Houk OK. noted. do you agree with my assessment of where to use it?
SEO + GEO = AEV (answer engine visibility)
🔍 **The Search Revolution is Here: From Blue Links to AI Answers** For 20+ years, we've optimized for Google's rankings. Now, AI is fundamentally changing the game. **The New Reality:** • Users want direct answers, not link lists • AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity are becoming "answer engines" • 87% of AI citations come from top 5 organic search results (Authoritas, 2024) • Over 60% of AI sources come from just 500 trusted domains **Enter GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)** – the art of making your content discoverable to AI systems. **Key Shifts Required:** ✅ Strong SEO fundamentals remain critical (your foundation) ✅ Content must be AI-parseable and contextually rich ✅ Syndication to high-authority publishers is now a GEO strategy ✅ Video content increasingly feeds AI discovery engines (74% of marketers now repurpose video for AI) ✅ Human expertise and authorship signals outweigh generic AI content **Bottom Line:** GEO isn't replacing SEO – it's evolving it. Success requires a dual strategy: visibility in search AND inclusion in AI-generated answers. The future of search won't be a list – it will be a lens. But if you don't invest in strong SEO today, your content won't even be in the frame. 💡 How is your organization adapting to the AI-first search landscape? #SEO #GEO #AI #DigitalMarketing #ContentStrategy #SearchMarketing #GenerativeAI Additional reference here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/future-seo-ai-world-navigating-shift-from-search-answer-goldstein-c3xdc

Is Signal Genesys a similar service as XPR Media which was linked in the source article? For those of use building the SEO foundation for clients but have very little knowledge of PR distribution - wouldn't a 3rd party service be the best place to start?
