What’s stopping you from speaking Spanish?
I was on a panel in London this week talking about travel and language learning. Something that came up (again): Most people know they should be speaking Spanish more to get better, but they don't. So I’m curious: 👉 If you’re learning Spanish but not speaking a little every week yet, what’s holding you back? No judgement. I am genuinely interested!

An Update: Conversation-Led Spanish Speaking Sessions
Hola a todos 👋 I want to share a small update with you. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been listening closely to what many of you have said, especially those of you who understand Spanish but don’t yet feel confident speaking it. A lot of you have told me things like: - “My mind goes blank when I try to speak” - “It makes sense in a lesson, then I forget it straight after” - “I want practice, but without feeling embarrassed or under pressure” Because of that, I’ve created a Premium option focused entirely on building confidence speaking Spanish. What Premium includes: 🗣️ Weekly live, conversation-led group Spanish sessions 😌 A safe, no-judgment space to speak Spanish at your own pace 🧠 Prep sheet provided before each session to help you know what to say 📘 Recap & vocabulary after each session so it actually sticks 🔁 Optional practice prompts between sessions A quick note on format: These sessions are not grammar lessons, and there’s no pressure or checking of prep. They’re conversation-led sessions designed to help you speak more freely and build confidence over time. If you enjoy grammar explanations or structured teaching, you can absolutely keep using: - my TikTok content - the Learn Spanish With James podcast Important: The free Skool community isn’t going anywhere. You're always welcome to stay in the free space, ask questions, and learn at your own pace. Premium is simply for those who feel ready to: - practise speaking regularly - have a bit more structure and accountability - build confidence through Spanish conversation I’ll be running the first sessions this weekend, with one Beginner group and one Intermediate group. If ever you can’t make a session, no problem, you can simply join the next one. Also, if you join a session and it doesn’t feel quite right for your level, that’s absolutely fine, you can switch or join the other group. As the Premium community grows, I’ll introduce more days and time options where possible so more people can take part.

¿Te gusta tu trabajo? Do you like your job?
Gracias a todos por explicarnos tu trabajo. Thanks to those that told us about their job. Now can you tell us if you like your job, and why? You can say: ‘’Me gusta mi trabajo porque … ‘’ Or ‘’No me gusta mi trabajo porque …’’ I’ll start. Me gusta mi trabajo porque me encanta viajar, y me gusta hablar español. Me gusta ayudar a las personas y aprender sobre otras culturas. 🇪🇸 Tell us if you like your job below with ‘me gusta mi trabajo porque ’ (I like my job because…) or ‘no me gusta mi trabajo porque’ (I don’t like my job because…)

🎬 Spanish movies on Netflix (great for learners)
¡Hola a todos! I put together a list of Spanish movies on Netflix that are useful for Spanish learners. Not just “good films”, but ones that help with listening, accents, and real vocabulary. 👉 Here’s the list: https://learnspanishwithjames.com/spanish-movies-on-netflix/ Question for you: I'd be keen to to know if anyone is using movies/TV to learn Spanish currently. I'll recommend some beginner-friendly picks for learning in the coming days too :) Saludos, James

I recommend "Valeria" on Netflix. It's quite fun to watch this one.

🇪🇸 / How has your day been?
Hola a todos! 👋🇪🇸 How has your day been? Tell us in Spanish! Hoy vamos a practicar describir cómo te ha ido el día. No hace falta usar frases complicadas porque con una estructura simple puedes decir mucho. 💬 Phrase of the Day me ha ido…it’s gone for me / my day has been… 👇 Your turn: Respond in Spanish using ‘’me ha ido…’’ and tell us how your day has been ☺️ Responde en español usando “me ha ido…” y cuéntanos cómo ha sido tu día 😊🇪🇸
