Truck info on COI?
Does anyone know if a carriers truck info has to be on the COI?

@Ariana Sanchez In trucking and dispatching, a carrier’s truck details do NOT usually have to be listed on the COI (Certificate of Insurance). Standard practice: - A COI normally shows: Carrier legal name Insurance company Policy numbers Coverage types (Auto Liability, Cargo, General Liability if required) Coverage limits Policy effective dates - - It may include the MC number or DOT number, but specific truck/unit numbers or VINs are rarely required. When truck info might be required Some brokers or shippers may request: - Unit number or VIN - Trailer type (especially for specialized freight like reefer or hazmat) This happens mostly for high-value loads or strict compliance brokers, but it is not a universal rule. Important tip for dispatchers Since you’re working on building your dispatch knowledge, always confirm broker requirements before booking a load: - Check the broker packet or rate confirmation instructions. - Make sure the coverage limits meet their minimums (commonly $1M Auto Liability and $100k Cargo). Regulatory bodies like the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration require insurance filings for carriers, but they do not require individual truck details on the COI for normal operations.

Hello everyone, My name is Rahmanullah Niazai. I have a background in Finance and experience working as a Finance Officer/Analyst. I speak Dari, Pashto, and English, and I’m currently learning Truck Dispatching to start working remotely with trucking companies in the USA and Canada. I’m especially interested in improving my load booking, rate negotiation, and broker communication skills. I’m excited to learn from this program and connect with professionals in the dispatching field. Thank you, and I look forward to working with all of you.

How Dispatchers Can Secure Payment and protect themselves
How can dispatchers protect or guarantee payment from carriers if carriers are responsible for paying them, and what steps can be taken to prevent carriers from backing out without paying?

@Melvin Gooden Thank you, I really appreciate the insight. The idea of using a structured Risk Register is very helpful, especially for dispatching and broker–carrier relationships where early risk identification can prevent many payment and communication issues
