Holding myself accountable
As many of you know I’ve not been feeling very well this week. I’ve been keeping to my eating plan, going to the gym but struggled to hit my 10k steps everyday. I’ve had some rough nights so not wanted to get up early and out for a walk. I’m ok with this as I know sometimes you have to listen to your body. I had a plan to start getting out this morning again but oh my days, I felt terrible this morning and ended up going back to bed for a few hours until lunch time (so not like me), but the wheels fell well and truly off tonight and I’ve eaten a whole Easter egg πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜’ I feel very sickly and regretful now but even more determined to get myself out of bed early in the morning and back to normal.

Echoing what others have said here. You're not a hamster running a wheel to earn treats. If you're not well you're allowed to rest and shouldn't feel guilty about it. You're also probably burning through more calories fighting whatever this is off anyway. The old saying feed a cold starve a fever did not become an old saying without good reason. Please show yourself some kindness.

Spent yesterday celebrating my Nephew's 16th birthday. He wants to copy me and do Kilimanjaro but has settled for a cross country hike in May for Alzheimer's Research for now πŸ˜… and asked if I'd help him get some practice in. πŸ’ͺ🏼 To the Valleys! This was a win on 2 fronts, the opportunity to get out on the 1st proper hike of the year. As his hike is for my beautiful Welsh firecracker Nan who passed away 2 weeks before her 100th birthday, we went for the 4 waterfalls trek. πŸ₯Ύ 10KM trekked over moderate terrain. πŸͺœ 575 stair steps (please enjoy the smugness of a teenager with 2 working knees and no pack) πŸͺ¨ 1 good valley wall boulder/scramble because seriously fk those stairs πŸ˜…) 🌈 8 rainbows found, permission to be silly returned to a grumpy teenager. Secondly my Nephew had the opportunity to just talk. 1 hour 45 minutes about football...met with enthusiasm and encouragement which then turned into an hour about his girlfriend, his concerns about her meeting his parents & grandparents. Then conversations he's had at school around rape, racism, abortion, drugs, shutting down sexism, why his Dad & Grandad are the way they are and why it's ok that he isn't like that, what he wants to do after his GCSE's, travel plans. Such a powerful reminder that when we shut down small conversations we can roadblock the important ones.

Thinking of joining a new gym
I currently attend a council gym, the positives are it is close by and I know the layout. The negatives are equipment is also broken, currently 3 machines are out of order, there is no parking (but I can walk there), the water cooler has been broken for around 2 months, it can get very busy and is laid out poorly and they just recently banned taking in bags. I have found a private gym near me, it's a 15 minute drive, it's much bigger, has its own car park and has a limited number of members only downside is its more expensive and slightly further away.

Ducklings!
Went for a walk this morning, first this week, as I was at the gym the other mornings. Wasn't going to post anything as it was a bit cold and dreich, but then I saw a duck with her ducklings and carefully took some pics, used the zoom on my phone as didn't want to get too close and scare them.
