Homework and introduction
Hey Yall! My name is Rachel Kimsey. I’m an actor, voice actor and coach and I’m here because I’ve never really understood what my brand is or how I am perceived. My Why is to build connection and community. My pillars are Empathy, Education and Entertainment. Since having kids I’ve posted a lot more to stories than to the main grid, which I need to change, but I think this post is fairly accurate to who I am.

@Theresa Pineda thank you! I was really pleased at the response I got from people it resonated with. They people I hoped would hear it really got it.

@Vena Edmonds thank you. This was off the cuff in the middle of the night. I appreciate it!
hello, hello, hello!
Hi! My name is Theresa! I am a facialist and small-business owner with a private skincare studio going on 3 years! My why for content creation is, ultimately, my why for my business: to help women of color feel confident in their skin. Although, I have always seen content creation as a means to an end. It's always been the thing I know I *have* to do to help grow my business and reach clients. I really want to change that narrative and feel instead like content creation is something I get to do as a way to connect with clients. My brand pillars? So, this is definitely something I haven't totally honed in. I will share what my goal is on this front: cats, skincare, and calmness. Lastly, a piece of content I am most proud of! This is a video that took me like two weeks to put together lol but it also brought me a ton of clients to my business: TT link: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTUwju25C/ IG link: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWFSro9kjsh/?stkn=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Anyways, I'm excited to be here and learn from Fran! I've been a huge fan since her "how to apologize video" on YouTube! I don't know if that's a well known one but it was a great one that made me a lot better at apologizing. So, thanks so much Franchesca!

I so appreciate that in your video you feature several men. It feels very inclusive- to echo Franchescas observation- inclusivity is one of the strongest takeaways I get from your video.

@Theresa Pineda I love that so much!
Intro!
Hi there! My name is Christina and I'm a former techie, always writer trying to figure out my next step. I’m going to be working on how my experiences and strengths can support my brand’s why’s - making people think, building community, and inspiring confidence (maybe change too?). My brand pillars are empathic, smart, and authentic. I have my own blog I’ve been writing in for years to an extremely small audience- shout out to my fam and friends. My most recent post is one I’m pretty proud of here. So excited to be on this journey with all of you!

Looking through your blog pages I’m impressed with how cohesive the colors and imagery is between writing, photography and menus. Your article tackled something current and divisive with nuance and clarion where you stand. That can be really tricky- especially in a short post. I appreciated the update too (even as converse absolutely failed at every level on this one).
Believe In Maybe
Hi folks! My name is Maybe Burke (she/her). Currently on hiatus from making content regularly, hoping this course can help me get going again with purpose and intention. I run my own consulting and speaking business, Believe In Maybe, and mostly use social media to leverage gigs and clients. My brand's why? I give people the words they don't have. My expertise has been taking complex topics, usually around gender and social justice, and helping people gain the vocabularies to talk about them. In line with that, I thinks my content pillars are: Social Justice, Education (or Explanation?), and Humor. (If you're laughing, you're learning.) A recent proud post for me was my YouTube video about detransition: https://youtu.be/4QOij38FYqs?si=6Vdf9obE_OC4nUQ8 The title is "How People Detransition," but the video is a bit of a bait and switch to talk about how uncommon detransition is, and all the reasons trans people might participate in what would be seen as detransition. So excited to meet all y'all and see what you're working on!

I just wanted to say hire much I like your design choices. The font and format give a hint of a trans flag without being on the nose and Makeup for Lost Time is an excellent title!

@Maybe Burke it’s great! And I can see it extending so far!
RE: Part 1 Homework
Hey friends! Just to clarify, there’s a homework prompt at the end of part one that includes making an introduction post with specific prompts about your brand & content. Happy to see folks introducing themselves but want to make sure everyone knows there are specific prompts related to the course materials. Please make sure you’ve completed part 1 before posting your intro/homework post. Thanks!

Franchesca- do you want us to comment on each others welcome homework or would you rather we leave that to you? I could make an argument for hyping each other up and also for not diluting your advice- do you have a preference for this first round?

@Franchesca Ramsey thank you! I was about to them I remembered the note about asking for permission to comment (was it DM?) and thought I’d clarify.
