GPCU Accountability Recognition 🏆
Good People, We’re starting something new inside GPCU. From time to time, I’ll be recognizing members who are showing up, applying what they’re learning, and staying consistent — especially in our accountability spaces. This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about participation, effort, and growth. For our first-ever GPCU Accountability Recognition, I want to shout out: 🏆 Terance Key @Terance Key Terance has been the most active in our Accountability Check-In — consistently responding, reflecting, and putting the work into motion. That’s exactly the energy that moves careers forward. You’re setting the tone, bro. Appreciate you for leading by example. 🤝🏾🔥 This is just the beginning. More recognitions coming. — Dammo Good People Club University (GPCU)

What’s up Good People! Hope everyone is well. I want to ask y’all something: Did anybody see that post Robert Glasper made about musicians and singers over-doing it? What’s your thoughts on it? Personally, I loved it. It was real and it was good advice. If you’re a working musician, let’s be honest: Chops, chops, chops — how has that really worked out for you? Did having chops get you the gig you wanted? Or help you keep the gig? I love chops. I love when somebody can pull from the bag. But a lot of musicians don’t know how to use their chops in context. Most musicians overplay. Wrong time. Wrong space. Wrong moment. Let me ask this too: Do you think chops actually matter on a gig? And if they do matter — what type of gig are we talking about? What type of musician are you striving to be? Should your chops reflect that goal? Or should your chops reflect what the music needs in the moment? Let’s talk about it. Sound off below. I want to hear your real thoughts. I attached the video for anyone who hasn’t seen the Robert Glasper clip.

Before I had any chops I got lots of gigs playing acoustic for singers around town. When I started developing speed , licks, and lead repertoire, I got bigger gigs. Didn’t mean I used said chops on those gigs….i agree with the idea that he’s saying. But it’s hard to execute …. unless you’re naturally fast, you have to practice to get there . And it has to be apart of your everyday. It’s hard to put it away for the whole show ,every show , then just randomly start ripping for 20 seconds.
