I baked my first sourdough loaves this week. This is today’s. I’m actually so proud of myself — She’s crunchy & beautiful ✨
Flavor Friday: Easy Wins & Tasty Celebrations
Happy Flavor Friday, 🌟 Today is all about celebrating the small steps with super easy, no-pressure fun. No baking a big loaf required, just explore flavors, observe changes, and enjoy the journey! 👭Simple & Friendly Ideas to Try Today 👬 - Quick discard treats (if you have extra discard): Whip up some Chocolate Chip Cookies, or flatbread on the stovetop (Printable Recipes Linked at the bottom ). - Starter observation party: Look at your jar, post a photo of your bubbly starter or smell it (tangy? yeasty?), describe changes from the week. - Tiny taste-test: If you have discard or a small sample ready, let kids try a bite and share reactions ("It’s bubbly!" "Kinda sour!"). - Sensory fun: Sniff the starter, feel the dough if you're feeding, talk about what it reminds you of (yogurt? beer?). 🧪Sensory Science Boost 🫧 Use all your senses! Have kids note: - Smell: What does it remind you of? - Sight: Bubbles? Rise? Color changes? - Touch: Bubbly? Sticky? - Taste (tiny bit!): Tangy? Mild? This builds observation skills, teaches about living yeast/bacteria, and makes science feel like play, no fancy tools needed. 🥳 Let's Celebrate Together! 1. Post your easy flavor moment: starter photo, quick discard snack pic, or kid reactions! 2. What's one small win this week (e.g., "My starter doubled!" or "We smelled it and giggled")? 3. Any questions for beginners? (e.g., "How do I know if it's ready?") 4. Invite a homeschool friend to join the fun in our community! Share your photos and simple shares below to get lots of likes + help with levels. You're all doing great, small steps lead to big loaves! 🔥

@Mollie Rudd soooo actually, it has almost doubled in size today 😱 the band is where it was at yesterday after feeding. 5 days seems fast to see this much rise already, no? I figured I still had more days to go until I saw this much growth haha

@Mollie Rudd so they actually ended up more “cakey” and thick for me than I expected, but still tasted great. Reminded me of Crumbl so I just decided to add frosting for fun 🙃
🥖✨ Starter Roll Call! ✨🥖
Alright Mama's … I want to see those starters! Drop a photo of your sourdough starter in the comments and tell us its name (because we all know starters deserve good names 😉). No starter yet? That’s okay! Tell us what’s holding you back, time, intimidation, forgetting to start, or something else? Let’s fill this thread with bubbly jars, floury counters, and real-life kitchens 🤍I can’t wait to see what everyone’s got going!

Named “Genesis” to mark the beginning of my sourdough journey. She turns 2 weeks old tomorrow and is making great progress everyday ✨ Thankful for all the fun & tasty discard recipe bakes & batters she has given us so far ☺️

I'm playing around with different recipe ratios for my einkorn loaves to get the perfect size and texture I want✨️ But she was still pretty and absolutely delicious 😍 Einkorn is simply fascinating!

@Samantha Mayers not anything spectacular, but I made homemade banana bread today using mostly almond flour. Trying to use up some pantry items before I start a new baking journey with “better” products/ingredients
Printable Coloring Page
My 6-year-old daughter loves to color while our dough rests between stretch and folds or while our baked goods are in the oven. It’s become one of her favorite little rhythms in our kitchen 🤍 She would love to see what your kids create too. If you’d like, upload a photo of your child’s finished coloring page in the comments so the kids can see and celebrate each other’s artwork. Messy hands, creative hearts, and meaningful learning—together.

@Mollie Rudd this is my daughter’s 😂😂 for reference, she’s 3.5 and insisted on using markers instead of crayons today. I wasn’t going to win this battle LOL
