Hi!! Sorry I feel like I missed something as well?
Backyard carriage house Airbnb
My hubby and I renovated our detached garage and we now have a backyard carriage house Airbnb! One successful Airbnb booking so far since the remodel was completed this summer. Hoping to learn more about how we can save on our taxes :)

@Alejandro Lerza we haven’t decided on cost seg study yet; but we are definitely pursuing STR loophole. However, truthfully we kind of stumbled into the STR loophole and the realization that we could save $$ on taxes just as the project was finishing up - so we didn’t necessarily plan for this from the beginning, but it was a nice surprise!

@Alejandro Lerza I am still learning about all of this and you’re right - we do plan to work with a CPA to make sure we file our taxes correctly. But as I understand it, it is not necessarily a requirement to get a cost seg study to take advantage of the STR loophole. Maybe @Ryan Bakke, CPA can weigh in on that part and if what I’ve screnshotted here is correct. As far as receipts, we do fortunately have a good record of those as we worked with a professional design+construction company who sent us detailed invoices every month while the project was ongoing

My hubby and I have invested significantly into the remodel of our garage into a backyard carriage house Airbnb. We would like to keep more of our hard-earned money since we worked so hard to start our STR business while also working full-time W2 jobs
