Can you change the porosity of your hair?
What Determines Hair Porosity? Hair porosity is mostly determined by: - Genetics - The structure of the cuticle layer - Chemical services (color, relaxers, bleach) - Heat damage - Environmental wear and tear It refers to how easily your hair absorbs and retains moisture. Can You Change It Permanently? 🔹 Natural Porosity (Genetic) You cannot permanently change the porosity you were born with. That’s based on how your cuticle layers are structured. 🔹 Damage-Induced Porosity If hair becomes high porosity due to: - Bleaching - Overprocessing - Heat damage You can improve the condition, but you can’t fully reverse structural damage once the cuticle is compromised. What You Can Do You can manage and temporarily modify how porous hair behaves. For High Porosity Hair Goal: Close gaps + retain moisture - Protein treatments (to fill gaps) - pH-balanced conditioners - Acidic rinses - Leave-ins + sealants (creams + oils) - Reduce heat & chemical exposure For Low Porosity Hair Goal: Help moisture penetrate - Use heat (steam caps, warm water) - Lightweight water-based products - Clarify regularly - Avoid heavy butters/oils that sit on top Porosity is not something you “change.” It’s something you treat according to its needs. That’s why scalp and strand analysis should always come before: - Smoothing treatments - Color services - Sew-ins - Silk presses Porosity determines: - Processing time - Product absorption - Moisture retention - Longevity of styles

Showing Up For Your Business
I personally treat my business as a 9-5 job. I create task that I complete in a timely manner. I have specific days set aside for inventory and I make sure to keep up with what's coming in and what's going out. I have a set schedule that I follow and I show up at least an hour before my clients so that I can have time to set up and do admin tasks. Comment below to share how you show up for your business on a day to day basis?
