Learning different stitches
I was thinking the other day about how I learnt to knit; my daughter has picked up her needles again after trying to learn a few years back. When I was at uni, to learn all the different stitches, etc we had to knit square swatches. At the time I thought it was pointless and boring haha but now i wish I had kept them all as a bit of a libary go to especially as I have ended up pursuing it as a career. I then thought it could be a great community idea to do a knit-along with swatches. It would be a great way to learn new stitches if you're a beginner, or just refresh if you're already a pro. Also, it's a great way to knit mindfully, since there's no stress of finishing anything when it's just a square. At the end, you could either sew them together and make a sample blanket or, like me, create a swatch library. I'm also considering doing videos to go with each one. I would love your thoughts? Would this interest you? I may add it as a paid tier but not sure yet. So thoughts are very welcomed :) xx

I did a sewing swatch folder at college as well and like you, I miss it very much. I'm all up for it.

@Sam Hill I know the feeling.
Vegan yarn options and baby pattern?
Hello wooly friends! My friend just had a baby (iii, I'm so excited! 🤗) and I want to make her a little gift for her baby girl. She is vegan and doesn't want any wool or silk. 🐑 I'm trying to be eco-friendly, so I don't want any synthetic fibre 🦎 So I'm looking for a pattern that doesn't need much stretch and could be knitted in cotton. Any idea? Bonus point if you have pattern recommendations!

@Sam Hill 🤩 How perfect! I haven't decided between cardigan and blanket yet but if we both end up making that cardigan, we could do a knit along...
Cinema Inspiration
Hello all you happy people! I was just curious if any of y'all ever watched something and thought to yourself "I could make that!". A movie, a TV show, even a work of art. Drop your ideas in the comments and let's see what we come up with! For example: in the movie "The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen", the character of Mina Harker (Draculas love interest in the novel) wears a long narrow velvet scarf in a deep shade of blood red to hide the marks on her neck where she was bitten. I saw that, bought some blood red chenille yarn, picked up my needles and got to work! There are other TV shows and movies that I have seen knitted items in, and many pattern.books devoted to the subject. Im.thinking in.particular of the book Literary Knits by Nikol Lohr. If anyone has any further inspiration for my needles, let me know....... This should be fun!

This is me! All the time! I watch Elsbeth last night and thought: "I could make this cardigan, it's so much fun".

We'll see, I'd love to! Time is a bit of an issue though.
Summer Headband
I needed a break from my MA knitting over the weekend, so I adjusted a headband pattern I have to make it into a tied version. What do you think? Shall I publish it as a pattern?

Are you a skool group owner? Have a community or membership?
This is for you; please ignore it if you're not, and I promise the next post will be back to wool lol. I am aware, however, that there are a number of people here who run their own groups, so I wanted to let you know about the other community I have reopened. My day job, so to speak, is a membership expert. I have been running and scaling memberships for the best part of 7 years, and still community manage two large groups. I have decided to reopen my own membership club, so I wanted to share it here in case anyone is interested, as it's on a founder member price until Sunday xx You can check it out here. And any questions, just let me know, or feel free to DM me xx
