Listen to the whisper
One of the hardest things for people is to quieten the mind, and often we don’t even know why we should be doing it. Learning to hear beyond our own thoughts is a gift for the horseman, because beyond our own self talk lies the ability to hear the whispers of those around us. For some the ā€˜talk’ comes in a sense, for some It’s a voice and for others it’s pictures. Either way if your mind chatter is too loud you will miss it all together. To hear our horses we must first learn to be present, quiet, patient - three very hard things to learn, but so rewarding once you’ve felt it. Cowgirls Mindset. Teaching a quiet mind that hears the whispers

I used to ride bareback and bridleless, then I was diagnosed with a spinal inflammatory arthritis and was warned, a fall could see me in a wheelchair. For some reason me in a wheelchair is a picture that keeps popping up, although the disire to ride Callie is huge. Mind you I had 2 falls off her since the diagnosis (5 years ago) and nothing bad happened, yet... that fear reigns supreme, especially after my last fall, and I haven't ridden now for 2 years. I so want to sit on Callie again, even if it is just for a quiet sit and walk in the arena. I am working on my mindset, and slowly dimming that image of me in a wheelchair, using Tai Chi. My goal is to sit on Callie before the year is out. Just sitting on her would be marvelous 😃
