Had my ups and downs this weekend for sure. Saturday night my back locked up making it hard to do much. Not fun. But after years of dealing with this I have learned to push through the pain. Still took the boat out Sunday morning managed to put 3 in the boat while losing an 8 pounder after it took me into a downed tree. ( I did get a chance to see it before it ran to the tree) Cooler temps felt great. Then back to the house to do some tree removal and cleanup. Still having issues moving today, but still can't just lay around, that doesn't pay the bills or support my fishing habit. Now is the time to hit the water Big fish are into Fall transition and the bigger ones are moving shallow to feed up for winter. I can tell you this they are getting aggressive. 8 degree water temp drop in just a week. 83 last Sunday 75 yesterday. All in all I would say a good weekend even with the back issues.

@Chris Skrobarczyk As always I try to get out Sunday Morning. The past couple weekends have been unproductive from a fish landed stand point, but extremely productive from a Data stand point. Regardless of what you do in life there is information and learning. Analyze this information and find the appropriate alternative to gain the results you are looking for, but don't expect miracles to happen over night without the effort. Don't know why It was put this way , but someone may need to hear it.

Nothing major happened here. Fish were biting but slow. Other then that trying g to avoid the heat while still getting stuff done around the house. Triple digit heat indexs don't play. 95 today feels like 110. Stay cool everyone.

@Chris Skrobarczyk I think alot of people are dealing with the heat. Sad part is it is only going to get hotter. Then some rain by the weekend. Outside time will be limited for this old man. Stay as cool as you can my friend.

@Chris Skrobarczyk Thanks for the shoot out. @Jon Henn Even though most of my advice may be directed toward Bass, Most of the rules apply across many species. There are many factors to consider when choosing a spot. Water Temp, Cover, Current, Bait and Pressure. Its been a long time, but for Trout I found that they like to congregate Near deeper pools or just outside heavier current in Streams or Rivers. For Lakes look for cover that allows for ambush points such as current breaks, Brush, or Rock Piles. As a boater we tend to do the opposite of those on the bank. Boaters cast to the shallows as bank fisherman cast deep. So if those from the bank are catching them there is a reason why. Underwater structure will give the secret away. set up your boat outside the line they are fishing but stay within casting distance. Water clarity is also a driving factor. Clear water use more natural looking bait, More stained water use lures that make noise and are darker to create a better silhouette. Hope this helps and as Chris said without more information its hard to pin point specifics.

For me its just work work and more work. Just with a little fishing thrown in when able to as long as the storms/rain holds off.

@Chris Skrobarczyk Little rain is fine. 1-3 inches an hour will make me hide under a bridge for awhile. Lightning, not happening.
