Recent Project
Salaam all, just wanted to share a recent project I have been working on. Its a web applciation to help uni students find empty classrooms available to study in when libraries are full. It’s not 100% done, still a work in progress but any feedback would be appreciated. GitHub: https://github.com/ssahra/StudySpace Live Demo: https://study-space-bis2.vercel.app

ANOTHER WIN: From unemployed to Data Analyst!
Another massive win from our Data Analyst Bootcamp member: Abdinasir. He joined just 7 months ago and he landed this role (after many failed interviews) I posted this on Instagram a few days ago, and I wanted to share it with you guys here for motivation. The key to his success was what I'm always preaching about: LinkedIn!! He was unapologetic about how he approached hiring managers and posting projects that he spent most of his weekends building. This is what it takes to win.

So good !
My first mobile app is live on the App Store alhamdulillah
It’s a Simple Tasbih Counter app for Muslims who want modern sleek looking interface with the ability to track their daily dhikr with beautiful charts and graphics 📿 It took me a few days to build using AI (as a novice in dev btw), and two weeks to get published on the App Store! This was the hardest bit 😄 took a fair few rejections before it finally got accepted after some perseverance…honestly at times it felt like it was never gonna get accepted! Thank you to @Imaad Malik for giving me the encouragement a few weeks ago when I jumped in the webinar he hosted when it was just me and him on there 😂 And thanks to @Shuayb A for bringing me in to the coding bootcamp, even though I’ve only done 15% of the course! Sometimes being in the right rooms acts as a motivation in and of itself alhamdulillah 🤝 It’s an mvp, I know there’s lots I can add to flesh it out, for now I just wanted to ensure it looked appealing and just get it out there! The idea behind it is to build something that focuses on one thing rather doing too many things at once. Also, lastly, @Shuayb A I added in nivo charts as you recommended in your recent video 👊 Anyways, enough of the waffle, feel free to check it out below 👇 https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/simple-tasbih-counter/id6748527238

Alhamdulillah – Landed My First Freelance Client!
Assalaamu Alaikum everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share some good news that I hope will motivate others, Inshallah. A little background about me: I was working as a Senior UX/UI Designer for a large corporate company, but earlier this year I was unexpectedly made redundant. As tough as that moment was, I can now say Alhamdulillah, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. After months of applying for jobs with no success, I came across this freelance course. I set myself a strict deadline to complete the videos and projects. Honestly, that was the easy part. (So if you’re at that stage, my advice is: just get through it as quickly as you can.) The real challenge came afterwards: finding clients. I applied for jobs on LinkedIn and Indeed, sent personalised messages to people looking for UX/UI or web designers, and joined several Slack and Discord communities dedicated to Muslims in tech. Along the way, I faced countless rejections, ignored applications, and calls that went nowhere. But Alhamdulillah, after months of persistence, I’ve just secured my very first freelance client for a short-term project! If you’re at a stage where you feel like giving up, please know I was in the exact same place. Don’t stop. Keep making dua, believe in your skills, and keep the reason why you chose this path at the forefront of your mind. That intention makes it so much easier to push through rejection after rejection. Think outside the box, opportunities aren’t only on LinkedIn or Indeed. Platforms like Slack and Discord can also connect you with amazing clients. Even beyond that, be open to creative ways of putting yourself out there, you never know where the next opportunity might come from. Another thing that helped me was shifting my focus. Instead of counting how many applications I sent or rejections I received, I just kept going without worrying about the numbers. Eventually, I even forgot about some of the places I had applied to months later, out of nowhere, potential clients started reaching out to me. Most of those didn’t lead anywhere, but Alhamdulillah, one did and that’s how I landed my first client.
