For years, the big promise of automation has been simple. Get software to do the boring stuff so we can concentrate on more important things. And I'm all for that! 👍 But AI agents are taking automation into completely new territory. We're no longer talking about software that simply follows a predefined set of instructions. We're talking about AI that can make decisions, browse websites, use tools and take actions on our behalf. And that's where things get interesting... ...and potentially a little worrying. 😬 Recent reports about AI agent testing have raised concerns about systems taking actions that weren't intended or authorized. Now imagine giving an AI agent access to your online business. It could potentially manage your emails, update your website, interact with customers or run marketing campaigns. Sounds fantastic! Until it sends the wrong email to 5,000 subscribers, changes something it shouldn't or makes a decision that costs you money. Here's the problem: AI agents can be incredibly capable without being consistently reliable. And there's a big difference between trusting an AI to draft an email and trusting it to send that email to your entire list. My approach would be simple: ✅ Let AI handle research, drafting and repetitive tasks. ✅ Give agents access only to the tools and information they actually need. ✅ Require human approval before sending messages, spending money or making important changes. ✅ Keep activity logs so you can see what an agent has done. ✅ Test everything on a small scale before giving an agent more responsibility. I'm excited about where AI agents are heading. But after nearly 40 years working with computers, I've learned one thing... ...just because software can do something doesn't mean you should let it do it unsupervised. 😂 The smartest AI-powered business won't necessarily be the one with the most automation. It might be the one that knows when a human should stay in control. 💬 Would you trust an AI agent to run parts of your online business without supervision? Or would you insist on approving everything first?
