Right now I’m working on fixing my sleep routine. The slightest thing can interrupt my sleep. If I eat too much, my stomach keeps me up all night. If I eat certain things that cause bloating, that too can wake me up. Alcohol can give me nightmares. Weed messes with my REM and deep sleep. Screen time and bright lights obviously. I treat each night as a delicate laboratory experiment. The other thing is that, I was in a bad habit of sleeping at 2AM and waking up 11AM. I’m self employed so I set my own schedule. But I wanted to sleep earlier like a normal person. I started taking 10mg Melatonin pills around 8PM with the goal of going to sleep at 10PM. Currently, for the last few days, I’m consistently going to sleep around 12AM (which is a 2 hour improvement in the schedule). My goal is ultimately to get to 10PM (which is difficult right now because I also work at night…). I don’t usually take melatonin, and I usually sleep much better without it. I guess too much of it can mess with your brain so be careful. But it has been very successful in getting me to sleep earlier and changing my schedule. The real test is when I get off of it. So in a nutshell… fixing my sleep schedule, and making sure that anything I do during the day doesn’t screw it up.
