One of the organisers of HRM crown prince’s visit on Monday made an important statement (on Swedish). I’ve translated it, but please tell me if it needs more correction (for historical purposes). ⬇️ 📌 As it has been written about in several places, it is planned that Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi will visit the Swedish Parliament. At the beginning of March, I, Magnus Berntsson and Arin Karapet sent an invitation to the Crown Prince to visit the Swedish Parliament. The purpose of the visit is clear from this invitation and is, among other things, to exchange perspectives and to initiate a dialogue. Since then, we have worked to create the right conditions for such a visit, both in terms of security and in terms of premises. We have also worked to ensure that the visit will have actual significance for democracy and freedom in Iran. Now it seems to be happening, which is very positive. However, not everyone is happy, and there is some criticism. But the criticism is weak and vague. Some believe that it should be clear that it is not the Parliament that is inviting the Crown Prince, but three individual members, and that the event is organized by two parties. The Parliament as an institution does not invite anyone. It is always individual members or parties who are responsible for invitations. We do not sit and vote on who should be invited. There is an established tradition in the Riksdag where members and parties organize events and invite people for, for example, dialogue. This is not really a relevant criticism, but rather an expression of ignorance. Another objection is that the Parliament or our parties would give legitimacy to the Crown Prince. This is a thoughtless claim. Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has extensive support among Iranians, both in exile and in Iran. Here in Sweden alone, thousands of Iranians demonstrate every Saturday to show their support for him. It is hard to miss, they are there every week.

very interesting, it's crazy the contrast in how different situations are reacted to. People criticizing someone who advocates democracy and fights against oppression, don’t seem to care about the freedom of the Iranian people.

yes, governments should prioritize their people, not an ideology. I agree, peace will only be possible when groups like Hezbollah stop escalating the conflict.
