💡 CHATGPT PROMPT SHORTCUTS — HOW TO USE THEM CORRECTLY
I am new here. Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I wanted to share something that may help us get better and more useful responses from ChatGPT. First, an important clarification: ⚠️ These are NOT official ChatGPT commands, secret codes, or hidden modes. They are PROMPT SHORTCUTS — easy labels we can use to tell ChatGPT what type of reasoning, analysis, tone, or approach we want. For the best results, especially in a new conversation, don’t rely on the shortcut word alone. Type the shortcut AND tell ChatGPT what you want it to do. Here are some useful ones and how to use them correctly: 🔹 TRUTHMODE USE WHEN: You want honest feedback instead of reassurance or automatic agreement. PROMPT: “TRUTHMODE: Give me your honest assessment. Don’t agree with me just to be agreeable. Tell me what works, what doesn’t, and what I may be overlooking.” 🔹 ELI10 USE WHEN: Something is complicated and you want it explained in simple language. PROMPT: “ELI10: Explain this to me as if I were 10 years old. Keep the language simple, but don’t leave out information I actually need to understand it.” 🔹 REDTEAM USE WHEN: You have an idea, plan, business strategy, argument, or decision and want someone to challenge it BEFORE you act on it. PROMPT: “REDTEAM: Challenge this idea. Look for weaknesses, risks, blind spots, incorrect assumptions, counterarguments, and reasons this could fail.” 🔹 80/20 USE WHEN: You’re overwhelmed and need to know what actually deserves your attention first. PROMPT: “80/20: Apply the Pareto principle to this situation. Identify the few actions likely to produce the greatest results and tell me what I should prioritize first.” 🔹 FIRSTPRINCIPLES USE WHEN: You don’t want the standard answer and want the problem broken down logically from the beginning. PROMPT: “FIRSTPRINCIPLES: Break this problem down into its fundamental facts and assumptions. Separate what we know from what we’re assuming, then build the best solution from there.” 🔹 SOCRATES USE WHEN: You want ChatGPT to help you THINK through something instead of simply handing you an answer.

Thank you so much. This is awesome
Give ChatGPT a two-minute context pack before you ask for the work
When ChatGPT gives you a vague answer, the fix is often not a longer prompt. It is a little more context before you ask for the work. Try making a two-minute context pack with four parts: 1. Who is this for? 2. What result do you want? 3. What should it sound or look like? 4. What must it avoid? For example, before asking for an email, you might say: "This is for existing customers who have not used a new feature yet. Write a short, friendly email that explains one clear benefit. Keep it plain English, avoid jargon, and do not make promises we cannot prove." That is enough to give ChatGPT a job with boundaries. You can add an example of something you have already written if voice matters, but do not turn it into a ten-page briefing document. Start small, see what is missing, then add one useful detail on the next pass. The result is usually less generic, with far less rewriting afterwards. What is the one piece of context you most often forget to include?

@Jason West Do you think humans have started to adopt AI language? Would you have always said 'does a lot of 'quiet' work? 🙂I'm a bit obsessive about eliminating all those quiet, gentle, thoughtful words.
Hi 👋🏻 fellow AI enthusiasts
Hi all, I’m Nathan and I’m from the UK. I am a technical consultant for a fintech company and my role is very technical, focusing on designing, implementing and supporting cloud solutions. I’ve found ChatGPT to be an excellent companion to help me understand the business I work for. For example, there is a lot of financial jargon that goes along with the role and internal documentation can be be very difficult to understand without prior context. So I have turned to GPT4 and created a ‘work assistant’ prompt which I use everyday. I pass in non-sensitive information from PDF’s (approved by my manager) and ask for simple explanations of concepts, explained using analogies and it has improved my knowledge and confidence so much. Other use cases are for technical information, I use products such as PowerShell, Power Automate and Azure Services and having a technical expert on hand to guide me is great. I have made use of the prompts I’ve found online and adapted them according to my needs and the results have been impressive. I have fully embraced this technology and see it as a companion. I feel it has improved my life in many ways and this is just the beginning. If it does eventually replace me, I hope I’ve made my money by then 😂 Are there any others in similar technical roles out there? How do you use this amazing technology in your role?
