Hey guys, got approved for Capital One Platinum but after that they asked for US-based ID. I said I don't have I escalated it to the manager, they said OK no problem, but then upon verification the fraud department says it needs to be US-based. Anyone in that situation and managed to solve it? Thanks !

While I was still waiting for my ITIN, @Ain - Cloud Resident suggested starting an Amex relationship in Germany first, since it could later help with Global Transfer after 3 months. I could not get the Amex Gold in Germany because of the minimum income requirement, so I applied for the Amex Blue instead. After holding the Amex Blue Germany card for nearly 5 months, I called Amex Global Transfer for the US Amex Gold. Timeline & Process: - Applied first for Amex in Germany while waiting for my ITIN - Started with Amex Blue, since Amex Gold Germany was not possible in my case - Kept the card for nearly 5 months - Called Amex Global Transfer by phone for US Amex Gold - Was asked to submit documents after the call - Uploaded passport scan - Uploaded proof of address using my Capital One credit card statement - Approved for the new card Everything was done remotely. I also checked Equifax and did not see any hard inquiry or soft inquiry there. I cannot check Experian or TransUnion, so I cannot confirm those. Good datapoint for anyone who is waiting for ITIN and wants to start building Amex history first outside the US.
