Over the next 10 weeks I’m reading 10 leadership books and bringing you the applicable insights from all of them. First up, Extreme Ownership, by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. The authors and former navy seals take us through the importance of leadership in war and business. On of my favorite insights so far is that the enemy gets a vote in whether you succeed or fail. In business, the enemy can be anything - your deadlines, products, mindset, lack of buy in, etc. but if you lead your people by communicating clearly and with purpose, and empower them to make key decision so you can remain the tactical genius, your votes with our number the enemy’s by the dozens.
