What runs have you got planned this weekend?
I’m lucky enough to have a nice river close to my house so that’s a regular route for me. I’m behind on my strength training this week so I’m heading to the gym shortly too. Tell me in the comments what your plans are - I’d love to see your photos too!

Running by water is always fab isn’t it / hope you enjoyed . My target was to hit 1st 10km since injury this weekend - job done. Had planned it for before work but kids plans changed - finished work, achy legs and didn’t feel like it but after reviving the legs ( got them up the wall) was set to go. Beautiful moon out there this evening and knowing I could meet friends after their speed session was a bonus !

Finding it hard to find the time to change your habits?
It’s very easy to get lost in the day to day and forget a) our potential - now and in the future, And b) overlook the massive power of exercise and nutrition This is a great book if you want to update yourself on the latest science behind what works for midlife women. If you don’t have time to read It here’s the top line: - Hitting your protein targets - Not underselling - Increasing veg and anti inflammatory foods - Strength training - mobility and flexibility - Power training But remember - information is important. We need to be confident we are doing the right things - but nothing will change if we don’t take action. So block out some time this week to make a plan for yourself - to eat differently, train differently. Start small - make it easy and then gradually build up. The first step is the hardest, so don’t overthink it - just find your next step. How do you manage your training around work?
I’m off to London today, on the 5:15 train and won’t be home til about 10:30pm. I know this will throw my training this week. How do you manage your training around work?

Arranging runs around work and mum taxi duties which can be a juggle. I used to be able to finish and long day on my feet at work and head straight off for a run but that seems to be all change with perimenopause! I have to rest, legs up the wall before I can head out. Before work never seems to happen for me as - I enjoy the social side of running so club or meeting with friends helps me get out.
What’s your proudest running moment?
In May this year I entered a 10k race - with no intention of actually racing. The year before I’d pulled out of the same event because of knee problems, and I remember thinking on the journey there, that simply getting to the start line was an achievement. By the time we crossed the finish line it was raining so we headed back to the van. We were just about to get going and I heard my name being shouted over the tannoy. I thought I must have lost something, but it turned out I’d come first in my age group! I couldn’t stop laughing. I am not a natural or talented runner. I was awful at school - so to win my first medal at 53 was something I never expected. It just goes to show - we can bounce back now and do more than we ever thought possible. What’s your most memorable run?

Agree it’s hard to chose, I think it has to be running Paris Marathon in 2023 & qualifying Good for age for London Marathon. Ran my first marathon age 45 in 2022 and loved it. Realised I was pretty close to qualifying so put a plan in place to try and reach it. Ran well & achieved my target of 3:44 only to find my tracker hadn’t worked !!! It took a few days but the race director confirmed my time after supplying a load of evidence and I had my certificate to be able to apply for London - Got in ! That first London marathon is something I will never forget - cried tears of joy many times during the run !
