Welcome You !
My name is Linda, and I'm the creator of this community and the course that will, in time, live alongside it. For the past several years, I have been writing a deeply personal, multi-generational book about my family: a story woven from archival research, interviews, silence, trauma, resilience, women's history, war, migration, and everything in between. It has been one of the most challenging and transformative experiences of my life. Along the way, I realized something important: No one should have to write these kinds of stories alone. There were moments when I needed guidance, moments when I needed emotional grounding, and moments when I simply wanted to talk to someone else who understood what it feels like to reconstruct a life, a lineage, or a painful piece of the past. But there was no community for that. So... I built this one. This space is for: - Writers working on memoirs or personal histories - People digging into ancestry, archives, or family secrets - Anyone dealing with inherited trauma in their storytelling - Writers navigating heavy material and emotional terrain - Those who want support, structure, or simple companionship on the journey If you're here, you're not here by accident. You belong with us. And I can't wait to get to know you all! Would you introduce yourself below? Tell us: - What story you're working on - Why this project matters to you - Where you are in your writing or research journey I'm so excited to read your introductions and learn about your projects. This is where our community truly begins! Linda

Thank you for creating this group! I completed the first draft of my memoir saga in September of last year - a whopping 780k words, told in 6 parts. I have been grinding through a few drafts of part 1 since, still undecided whether I am going to self-publish it soon, or hold off until I've done another edit of the whole book. My goal is to leave my readers waiting as little time as possible between books; I also want to avoid the external pressure that is sure to come once I do get the first part out in the world. Adulting, Allegedly is ultimately a redemption story that covers my 30s. Part 1 is my affair, 2,3&4 are full of a lot of reckless choices that came from guilt & shame, 5 is full of healing, and 6 deals a lot with death - both speculation of homicide as well as terminal illness. I am writing for those who feel hopeless, who fear they have outsinned God's love. I am writing because I know justice will not come from the justice system, so I hope to find it in telling the truth instead. I am looking forward to interacting with others who understand how emotionally taxing it is to drag yourself through your worst memories over and over again...

@Linda Kildentoft I'm sorry for your loss. What an amazing way to honour your grandfather. I love that when we write we can keep their memories alive and even expand our loved one's impact into the lives of others.
