Welcome You !
My name is Linda, and I'm the creator of this community and the course that will, in time, live alongside it. For the past several years, I have been writing a deeply personal, multi-generational book about my family: a story woven from archival research, interviews, silence, trauma, resilience, women's history, war, migration, and everything in between. It has been one of the most challenging and transformative experiences of my life. Along the way, I realized something important: No one should have to write these kinds of stories alone. There were moments when I needed guidance, moments when I needed emotional grounding, and moments when I simply wanted to talk to someone else who understood what it feels like to reconstruct a life, a lineage, or a painful piece of the past. But there was no community for that. So... I built this one. This space is for: - Writers working on memoirs or personal histories - People digging into ancestry, archives, or family secrets - Anyone dealing with inherited trauma in their storytelling - Writers navigating heavy material and emotional terrain - Those who want support, structure, or simple companionship on the journey If you're here, you're not here by accident. You belong with us. And I can't wait to get to know you all! Would you introduce yourself below? Tell us: - What story you're working on - Why this project matters to you - Where you are in your writing or research journey I'm so excited to read your introductions and learn about your projects. This is where our community truly begins! Linda

@Nicole Smith : Thank you so much for sharing this, and for trusting the space with something so personal! Completing a first draft of that scope is an enormous achievement in itself, especially with material that clearly carries so much weight. I really recognise what you're describing: wanting to protect the work and yourself from external pressure while you're still finding your way through it. I'm deeply moved by your intention to write for those who feel beyond redemption, and by the idea of truth-telling as a form of justice when other systems fall short. That's powerful, and not easy work to carry. And yes, the emotional toll of returning to the hardest memories again and again is very real. You're absolutely not alone in that experience, and I'm really glad you're here. My manuscript also covers a part of my own life, especially around the death of my grandfather (who the book is about), and I found that writing about an experience, putting myself back into the memory by describing the things around me, scents, noises, and colors, was heartbreaking all over. This was not the first time I told the story; I had told it quite a few times, but not with as many details. It was hard to say the least, but in the end freeing. So I get it, I really do. Thank you again for sharing your story, and for being part of this space.

@Nicole Smith Thank you, it means a lot! And I feel the same. I hope that his story one day can enlighten others, teach them something about life and history, so that we can keep it alive and learn from it. Which is something I believe the world needs more now than ever!
