A love note from tortured..
Let me tell you about the last straw. She’s broken, her back aches, tension upon her shoulders. Her lips no longer hold a smile. The last straw she lets go; you know the one, it's a short fuse To speed time up. All she needs is the spark. The fire to light that straw up. Let me tell you about the last straw. She’s dry as a bone and smoking already.

Smart Funny Tortured Card Pull - TORTURED
The Tortured side of Smart Funny Tortured is where we face the things we’ve carried, hidden, or tried to bury—and where we find the strength that comes from bringing them into the light. Today’s card asks:👉 What’s something you used to hide about yourself that you now embrace? This is an invitation to honor the parts of yourself that once felt too heavy, too strange, or too shameful—and to celebrate the courage it took to reclaim them. Whether it’s your sensitivity, your ambition, your scars, your voice, your quirks, or something deeper—this is your space to share. Drop your answer in the comments ⬇️ Your story might help someone else finally see the beauty in what they’ve been hiding.

🏆 Welcome to SFT WINS
This is the place where we celebrate the sparks. Big victories, quiet breakthroughs, ah-ha moments, and the kinds of realizations that make you say: “Wait… I’ve never seen myself this clearly before.” What to share here: ✨ A win you’ve had from applying Smart, Funny, or Tortured in your life 💡 A realization or shift that landed while working through the course or cards 🎤 Praise or testimonials about how the SFT framework (or Paul’s work) hit you at the right time 🙌 Any moment—small or seismic—where you felt yourself reclaiming your essence Think of this space like a bonfire: the more fuel we add, the brighter it burns. Your post might be the exact spark someone else needs to keep going. No win is too small. No realization is too strange. I've been sitting and smiling with the feeling that there is something special here in this community. It is such a validating feeling to know that we are connecting to the parts of ourselves that we know have always been there, yet have been masked or hidden away. WINS this week for me are working through the funny module and connecting to that absurd joy, that silly, giggly girl that has been quiet for too long.
💡Lightbulb Moments from the SMART Workshop✨
What a wonderful and special experience we shared in the Smart workshop. The stories, insights, and openness in the room made it unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who showed up so fully. Now we’d love to keep that spark alive. Drop your lightbulb moments below—those insights, breakthroughs, or resonant takeaways that stayed with you. Your reflection might be the very thing another SFT member needs to see. 💡 🗓️ And a quick reminder: our workshops are open spaces for exploration and connection. You don’t need to have completed every module or worksheet to join. Come one, come all. These sessions are expansive conversations where we learn from each other, whether we’re diving into Smart, moving into Funny, or anywhere along the journey. Check the Calendar tab for the next workshop. We can’t wait to see you in the next workshop. Until then—share your lightbulbs and keep the conversation alive with your Smart Funny Tortured family.

I found this workshop extremely helpful. Each of us was at a different stage in the modules, yet we were able to draw connections and encouragement from one another. Thank you @Paul Chamberlain for making this process accessible. The exercise last night revealed to me that "I am smart because I can go slow and take the time to process, I see patterns and details, and I have depth and perseverance to stick with the important things."
SFT Card Pull for the Labor Day Weekend
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I decided to pull just from the FUNNY pile to give you something to reflect on and share with the group. I specifically chose funny again for the weekend in order for us all to think about what is our joy, what puts us in flow state and what gives us or how do we give pleasure. Please share in the comments so we can all bask in each other’s FUNNY.

I always like to revisit semantics and meaning when trying to describe anything that doesn't feel accessible. Building on what @Paul Chamberlain mentioned by Camus, absurd joy is "the happiness derived from accepting life's inherent meaninglessness by rebelling against it through conscious creation and affirmation of life despite its lack of ultimate purpose". I have always found a special joy that resides in being creative. Sitting down with whatever supplies you have and creating something out of it. Arts and crafts have a special place in my soul. I’m sure as many of you know filling your space with art that someone else makes can be quite pricey and we have lived on a students budget for the last 15 years or so (And still continue to do so because well there is no other way for use right now and that also taps in to our creativity). So for over a dozen years, my husband and I have created our own art to fill the walls of our home. It brings such joy to see the process and what we’ve been able to create with what we have. We have made ornaments, paintings, gifts, wedding decorations, and so much more. We have hosted paint nights with family and friends and created more than memories. We now live 1800+ miles away from any family in either direction, yet we have these memories to keep with us and decorate the walls of our home. It is such sweet joy to look back at some of these paintings and see family as well as time spent together, creating something beautiful or silly.
