Sales letter funnels
Going live this weekend The other night I was joking with my wife about how I’m going to create something called LeadCapture Local for local businesses. The plan? Use direct mail to get on their radar (this worked for me back in 2013/2014... can't even remember, back when I couldn't pay rent because of a failed startup and it saved me, I'll tell that story some other time)... Side note: this is actually going to happen at some point. She just doesn’t realize I wasn’t really joking. As soon as my six-year-old is done school, I’ll be putting him to work stuffing manila envelopes with sales letters. Anyway… While I wait for some help and a little more mental bandwidth, I thought: Why not build a sales letter feature right into LeadCapture? So without further ado… LeadCapture now has sales letter funnels. The idea is simple: Drive cold traffic into a lead funnel with long-form, optimized copy that sells the person on taking the next step. Then, right below the letter, include a lead quiz, form, or survey to capture the lead. But here’s the key: Sales letters only work when they follow the right formula. The right structure. The right copy. So we built the feature to automatically use the right setup. And the copy side? That’s easy. You can literally prompt our Copilot: “Hey, here’s my offer. Write this like Dan Kennedy and update the copy of my sales letter to sell this thing. Also, please don’t include the FFFN em dash.” And boom. Just like that, you have an optimized sales funnel built to convert. If Dan Kennedy, Gary Halbert, Eugene Schwartz, John Caples, or David Ogilvy were using LeadCapture, they’d be jumping out of their skin for this feature.

We are just getting ready to run pre-lander campaigns, so timing is great. Will the CTA button be able to fire a pixel event?

@John Porini awesome thanks! We'll get it tested out. We still need switch our old stuff over to next gen. I believe we're built out, but just haven't swapped yet. Always worried about breaking something with thousands of dollars / day in ad spend. :/
Update & Postmortem: Today’s AWS (Internet) Outage
From an email I just sent: Hi everyone, As a quick follow-up to my earlier message (which many of you probably didn't see), the global AWS outage has officially been resolved. In other words, the internet is no longer broken (I hope)... I also wanted to send a quick postmortem on what happened, for those of you who missed the chaos. This morning around 4:30 AM EST, I woke up to alarms and alerts firing off everywhere and some tickets (sleep is a luxury these days... anyone got tips?). At first, it looked like a widespread outage was hitting parts of the internet. I sent out a frantic alert around 5:30 AM EST, but ironically, that message didn’t get delivered for hours. Why? Because AWS was the culprit. And as it turns out, when AWS has an issue, the entire internet breaks, including the SMTP relay we use to send emails. From there, things got weird. I couldn’t update our status page. Our ticketing system started timing out. TrustedForm went down. Zapier connections stalled. Even my ring wouldn’t stop blaring because the Ring app was down, so I couldn’t even turn off my own alarm. I had to throw it into the washing machine so it wouldn't wake up my kids. Despite the chaos, I stayed at my desk sending out individual messages to everyone I could think of, especially those running active ad campaigns. They probably didn't even get through. I knew how critical every lead was during those early hours. It felt like the internet was collapsing around us. And to be honest, this was the first time in a long time I truly felt helpless. The last AWS outage this bad that I remember was back in 2016 or 2017... and back then I was just an employee enjoying a surprise day off. This time? Very different story. What We Know Now ✅ The LeadCapture app, forms, and funnels stayed up during the entire outage, which was a huge win. It speaks to the infrastructure that we have in place now. ⚠️ The issues were mostly upstream and downstream, integrations, CRMs, OTP, and lead distribution systems like TrustedForm and Zapier were affected.

Great job LeadCapture team & @John Porini. Yes, an alert system for media buyers would be really nice. I'm spending almost $10k / day on our ads, so that would be really painful if funnels or forms were down.

@John Porini amazing!!
The Subtle but Powerful Mobile Tweak That Rocket Mortgage Got Right”
I always tell people to make sure their quiz or funnel is positioned as high up on the page as possible. especially on mobile. Today, while analyzing Rocket Mortgage’s VA Loan funnel, I noticed they’re doing exactly that. 📸 Two screenshots attached: 1. Desktop view: Image of a person on the left, quiz funnel on the right. 1. Mobile view: They flip the layout so the lead funnel comes first and the person image moves below. By default, on mobile most browsers would stack these the other way around ... image first, funnel second. But Rocket made sure the funnel stays at the top of the viewport on mobile. Smart move. What’s even more interesting is how simple their pages are. Many don’t even include images. This is a billion-dollar company, yet they don’t overthink the design. It’s all about clarity and conversion.

[August Update]
We shipped some long-awaited integrations, rebuilt a core feature from the ground up, and started laying the foundation for what’s coming this fall. Here’s a quick rundown 🔌 Integrations - We kicked off August relaunching our ActiveProspect TrustedForm Integration SDK so you can flip a switch and unlock features like auto-retain. Available on ALL plans. - Rolled out direct integrations with Phonexa LeadProsper (no more webhooks needed). All integrations support dynamic redirects on lead postback right out of the box. Not many form builders that make it this easy. - Enhanced our LeadByte integration with dynamic redirect support. And eyeing up more integrations are coming in September and October with Attribution Tools, Landing Pages, and a few additional distribution tools. ⚡ Small but mighty enhancement We added the ability to automatically convert state names into abbreviations (PA → Pennsylvania or vice versa). Sounds tiny, but it solves real pain for lead distribution workflows. 📉 Drop-Off Mode 2.0 For users collecting partial leads, we completely rebuilt Drop-Off Mode with server-side logic. Before, it relied on front-end tracking and was inconsistent across devices and browsers. Now it will be rock-solid and captures partial leads even if someone bails mid-form or at OTP verification. 👀 What’s next In October we're looking to drop something big, we’re launching phone enrichment + a contactability score based on phone numbers. Imagine knowing how likely a lead is to answer before you even call. We've also made some updates to our release process to reduce risk during releases and tighten things up on that side. More updates to come!

Important TrustedForm Updates
First, The current method of adding TrustedForm still works and is fully backward compatible, no urgent changes needed. This new method is just way easier and way better. Last night, we just launched V2.0 of our TrustedForm integration, now making LeadCapture.io one of the only platforms that makes it dead simple to integrate TrustedForm with Auto-Retain... without tech headaches. With our TrustedForm V2 integration, you now get full SDK-level access without lifting a finger. Just flip a switch and you're done. Here are the highlights of V2: - No more adding your TrustedForm javascript SDK code to your lead form or landing page. It's as simple as flipping a switch. - The new integration is more seamless and works better with TrustedForm's system, taking advantage of AutoRetain Here's why Auto Retain Matters: - Your lead proof is captured and stored automatically - No need to call an API or build custom retention logic - You’re protected from compliance risk Other benefits: - Capture and pass TrustedForm certificates - Works great with real-time email and phone verification - Clean integration with CRMs and lead buyers Read the full updated documentation here: https://help.leadcapture.io/article/190-activeprospect-trusted-form-setup More updates are coming soon. Stay tuned!
