This October, we'll have another Make a Short Film in 21 Days Challenge! Starting Friday, October 9, you’ll have exactly 21 DAYS to write, shoot, edit, and finish your own Horror Short Film! Any kind of Horror counts! Comedy Horror, Zombie, Found Footage, Slasher, Supernatural, Psychological, Monster, Found Footage & more. Have fun with it! Here are the rules: On October 9, I’ll reveal THREE REQUIREMENTS that must appear somewhere in your film! Your mission: 🎬 Make a brand-new Horror Short Film (no budget required) ✍️ Write, shoot & edit it within the 21 days 🎃 Include all 3 mystery requirements Use whatever you have! A phone is totally fine! Finish and submit your movie by making it a Community Post by Friday, October 30. Your film can be scary, funny, weird, ridiculous, suspenseful, or anything in between, as long as it fits the Horror genre. 🏆 BEST FILM WINS A TROPHY! I'll watch all of the completed films and choose one winner for Best Film. I'll be looking at creativity, storytelling, use of the three mystery requirements, and most importantly, what you were able to create in just 21 days! Made some updates to this class in the classroom section. Also, is anyone interested in doing the Write a Christmas Movie in 6 Weeks challenge? That we did last year. I don't think I can commit to it this year as I did last year (focusing a lot on my comedy series, Aaron and Abby), but I'm just seeing if anyone is interested.

Watch real actors bring a screenplay to life! On Monday, October 5th, we'll be reading "New York State of Mind," (A Feature Film dramedy written by @Judith Halbreich) If you've never experienced a real table read before, definitely come check this one out! Hearing actors bring a screenplay to life is a completely different experience from simply reading one on the page. It's also a great way to learn screenwriting by listening to what works in dialogue, pacing, characters, scenes, and the overall story. And you DON'T have to read a role to participate! Writers are more than welcome to simply join us on Zoom, watch and listen to the entire read. Afterward, we'll open things up for discussion, and anyone who would like to can offer Judith feedback and notes on the screenplay.

I am writing a time travel dramatic feature titled "Half a Lifetime Away" about a quantum physicist named Dr. Harold Morris who travels back in time to find a cure for his wife's rare illness. To promote this film, I started to record vlogs from the POV of Dr. Morris. It all occurs before the movie and provides the atmosphere for what the movie will be about. Check it out on Instagram!
